This should be fixed in 3C.

Thanks, everyone, it's really nice to be appreciated. :)
We've fixed this and we're working on the update right now.
[quote who="Rincewind57" reply="25" id="2684596"] Five minutes for the countdown of the "within the next hour"... Anybody that has done any software development knows that software has a funny effect on space-time. "It is pretty much done... wait, there's a tiny bug. I'll fix it first." Two hours pass. "Actually, it breaks the entire program. Oh dear... I hope this can be f
Please let us know if Beta 3B resolves this problem without needing to turn off your sound card. :)
Sorry, WAD = working as designed. The delay is unrelated to the scroll speed, and it has its own option in 3B that you can set separately.
We think that we've got this problem fixed with Beta 3B, so please let us know if it helps.
We've made a lot of performance fixes so you should be able to enable your soundcard while playing beta 3B. Tactical Combat was not enabled in 3A.
The scroll delay is WAD. I added an option for it, to range between 0 and 1.0 seconds.
Plamski83, did you try disabling your soundcard? That's worked for some people. We're in touch with the Miles Sound System developers trying to figure out the problem.
Simply updating to the latest version of Miles didn't help, so I'm still working with the people at Rad game tools on this.
That's interesting...I've never heard of that happening with windowed mode before. Have you checked to see if there are any updated drivers for your video card?
I'm going to e-mail rad game tools about this problem, but I would like to know if it helps if you turn down the audio hardware acceleration, or if the only solution is to disable the sound card completely.
Do you still get this crash if you go to Documents\My Games\Elemental\prefs.ini and set fullscreen = 0 before running the game?
Can you please zip your Application Data/Stardock/Elemental/Screens folder and put that on dropbox so that I can see if it's creating bad texture atlases? If it's not creating bad texture atlases, my guess would be that you've got a bad install because that's probably the only other thing that will cause a crash on the options screen.
These crash dumps are both from Beta 3, which had version 0.805. See how the beginning of the filename is Elemental0_805? That's the version. Please clear out old crash dumps and make sure that you have the latest version installed.
Judging from where the crash occurred, looks like you've got a bad install. Un-install, clear out C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\screens and re-install.
This crash has been fixed.
So do your prefs not get saved either?
I may have misunderstood this post last night; I was going through a lot of posts all day and I admit to being a bit frazzled. Can you get to the title screen, or does it hang before that? If not, is this hanging while trying to start a new game or load a save game, or both? Are there any files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\Screens? If so, that message may have just been a one time thing before it generated t
I've fixed the hang on exit bug for Beta 3A
Hanging won't create dump files. Looks like it's failing to create the texture atlases. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\cbegle\My Documents\My Games\Elemental\Prefs.ini and under [Video] look for MaxTextureAtlasWidth and MaxTextureAtlasHeight. The default values are 1024 and 512, so if you have something else for those values, try resetting them to the defaults. Have you tried updating your video drivers?
kapeman, try going to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\ImpulseReactor and delete all the xml files.
Hmm, not sure if it would have been able to create a crash dump if you had to reboot the computer to kill it. The dump file that you linked to though indicates that the problem was when trying to render text. Were you having any issues with the font displaying anywhere in game? Also, you have this error in the debug.err that was in the zip with the dump file: Debug Message: Failed to create process: DXAtlasWin.exe /w 1024 /h 512 /OUTPUTDIR "C:\Documen
samurai160, is this the first time that you've tried the beta or have you been able to successfully run it in the past? If it's the first time and you are still having trouble, a common problem is if you ordered Elemental under a different e-mail than the one that is associated with your Impulse account, you won't be able to login. You can check this by going to C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\ImpulseReactor if you're on Vista/Win7 or C:\Documents and Sett
