Here's my info after reboot, with WB6 not working. Looks the same to me. Am I missing something? Now that I'm in the right forum, here's where I stand now. I can install WB6 fine. I'm running it right now, having just installed it (for the umpteenth time) and it's gorgeous, thanks. But when I reboot, it will no longer be able to apply skins. I can just reinstall it every time I boot up, but that seems a little silly, eh? There's something happening in the reboot process that's keeping skins from applying, and I'm baffled. NB, you said my bin file was invalid. Please explain this to

Have you tried pasting your ODNT serial for activation? Many, many, many times. After all, I maxxed out my activations twice. The problem now is no longer activation per se, though: It says I'm activated, it simply doesn't work.

Natsgm: Setting that file to be read only will not help. If WB wanted to delete that file then it was invalid and it will not allow you to use WB. You have told me twice that the file is invalid. I am asking you again, why would it be invalid? And, if it's invalid, why would it work perfectly well until I reboot? Can you help enlighten me?

Just went through the whole process one more time. Activation problem is solved (thanks again). It installs perfectly and works fine. Then, the first time I reboot, it will no longer apply. So it's something that's happening on the reboot. I don't know what.

Thanks,Excalpius. At least it simplifies the problem. I no longer get deactivated. Unfortunately, that wacky "apply" button does exactly nothing. Everything else works fine, so I have a nice wallpaper changer. Maybe I'm doing something obvious wrong, or maybe my clunky computer just isn't up to it. I don't know.

Further investigation: This is fascinating. I tried watching the folder in W. Explorer while I was trying to apply. When I launch WB, sig6 is OK and activation is good, but when I click "apply," rather than applying, it deletes the bin file. This is weird.

Thanks, Nakor. Unfortunately, whatever's going wrong for me is just beyond my comprehension. I reinstalled -- and just in case, I disabled my virus and firewall programs when I did it -- and it worked perfectly. I saved a copy of the sig6.bin in another folder. Then I rebooted to restore the virus and firewall. And now, WB6 thinks it's "unactivated" again. When I replace the bin file, it just disappears every time I launch WB -- with or without antivirus and firewall. I'm lost. Ironic: I'm usual

Tried the registry fix. Now, instead of doing nothing at all, hitting "apply" asked me to activate. Of course, I can't activate because I'm maxxed out again. If I can get Stardock to reset me again, perhaps this will work. I don't know.

For some reason, I still can't get the darn thing to activate. I keep trying, God knows. I ran up to the activation limit, Stardock kindly reset for me, and now I've hit the limit again. When I install, I get to see the wonders of WB6, but hitting "apply" gets me nowhere. Such frustration. Back to old reliable WB5 now.

I've always been happy to pay people for making high-quality blinds, especially since I can't do it for myself. Talent should be rewarded. I've been astonished at some of the stuff that skinners like essorant, Mike Bryant and Z71 have given away.

Don't know if it's the same problem, but ever since the new build, I've had a lot of trouble getting all the bitmaps to load, especially for the tray. Sometimes I have to reboot to get it to happen. Never had a problem like this before. WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report: STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+ WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC. jarget, I'm sorry to hear this. It's a terrible thing to have to go through. I hope you can keep your hope strong and your spirits high. My wife and my sister both survived cancer, and they have normal lives again, so I know hope is real. I'll pray for you.
