A really great couple of games are Shining Force and Shining Force II for the SEGA Mega Drive (or SEGA Genesis if you're american). You play thru a RPG-style campaign with entertaining dialog and characters. As you progress in the story you can pick up different characters for your party. Different characters can cast magic, use bows etc. There are alot of different classes such as birdmen who can fly, warewolves etc. Coupled with different weapon choises that works differently in combat (not

Very good points. Something I don't really like is how most of the battles you can just auto-combat since it's only melee vs. melee. It would be alot more fun with some terrain like you said but also with the ability to get archers or some other strategic unit much earlier. If you move your archer up on a hill and start firing you can force the enemy to come to you instead of being left with 0 strategic options like now.

Do the bonuses created by studies and stuff stack?
It's when you build a study. There are other buildings and tile-improvements which enhances research aswell. When you get your first research point (first study, unless you got a sovereign or champion that provides +1 research) you get to choose a cat

I heard people talking about building shrines on top of water/fire/earth or air shrines but that doesn't give me any regeneration at all. Below are Kingdom rundowns. I don't play Empires much, mostly for lack of time. Research Shard

For example town 1 can send to town 2 and town 3. Town 2 sends to town 1 and to
Yeah, now I truly know why people say that the game has a lot of potential... It is a good game, with just some things to change in the stat XML files... Also I think they need a WAY better manual and less starting difficulty options. It is kind of hard to figure out what you gonna get from what option... Too many choices... And the "world difficulty" is misleading. It should be more "world boredom level" from easy = nothing happens t

What about ranged weapons, are their damage improved by strength aswell or is agility the way to go for an archer type?

Sounds like a good suggestion. I just feel like now it's too easy to sacrifise base stats to take all the good traits at character creation (+2 food, +1 research etc) which makes me more often then not play with a pre-made character just to make it abit more challenging. But am I right about my description of intelligence, that if you use for example spells from the fire book your intelligence does not matter at all? Also that charisma only affects prestige of c

Strength - Increases melee damage Dexteriy - Increases dodge Intelligence - Increases damage of 3 particular spells Charisma - Increases growth of stationed city Consitution - Increases hitpoints So this is my understanding of what the stats does for your sovereign, is this correct? Because if it is, I'd say it's pretty broken. If you're playing a mage using ANY spells apart from magic arrow, elemental blast and stone skin intelligence is

So I've been playing strategy games since I was a kid and have always had an unexplainable love for everything similar to it. The computer TBS games are however an untapped source to me. I have been playing Heroes of Might and Magic II and III for a very long time but haven't really looked into anything else. So I heard about civilization and decided to check it out. I absolutely loved Civilization V, loved it. However, there were bugs and they were annoying. I was patient, and waited
