Just finished first Beta 4.1 as the Priest. I found Peregan the Ranger, one thing I noticed, and perhaps this was an additional error. Athica started near two shards, consequently it had 30+ essence and I was able with the initiative buff, have 90+ initiative units. The mounted units would react before the archers, even though Peregan had the trait which allows archers to fire first. One other thing about the automatic firing first, the archers seem to use a special ab

Just played my first game on the Gilden map, first off I was excited since resources were abundant. That excitement rapidly changed to, "Oh c**p!, That's a lot of units, which then changed too, this is not asymmetric, this is slaughter" I have really enjoyed the beta up to this one particular game. I am curious what influences where a player starts on the map? On the first beta release I pretty much played the same tiny map over and over again, which was the

Lack of Faction Differentiation There are subtle differences in the factions, but would like to see radical differences, it is very bland, that each fraction had same weapons, equipment type with a few minor exceptions. Would like for the factions to have a radically different look and feel, have armors and weapons that look different. The ability to customize units, although a game-within-the-game, is probably a handicap for the AI, which already is not so good.&nbsp

As the title says, was playing a reasonably enjoyable game as stock Gilden up until Mangar declared war on me. Needless to say an AI Sov with 152 Attack, equiped a boreal blade, had +3 cutting bonus, and had choosen path of the warrior, of course the real issue was the sixteen burning blades spells at +8 each that were stacked on top of each other. I hope this was a bug, cause needless to say, the sovereign was invincible. I know it is a beta, but if you can only have

The season was late around 380, fighting battles with AI was tedious. It takes twenty five turns to cast the spell during which time your soveriegn cannot move. Would not recommend doing this in unfriendly territory. There is a decent cut scene then you get your final score, mine was in the 6000 range, forget which notable of Elemental history that ranks as, was just happy to not be a 'Janusk' again. So it would be late in the game, wanted to experience

Just finished first game using most current beta casting spell of making. Some observations this was using a custom soveriegn life/air aprentice, general, merchant, and tactician. Race was Mancers, Kingdom of Capitar. Starting location was nothing special, 4 grain, 2 materials and 2 essence, really focused on research. The initial location was not really good, only reason was able to massively out grow AI was through use of custom unit, Pathfinder which has

As the title says, the beta in its current state is a massive improvement. City management is now much more manageable, and there are signifcant choices to make in terms of either conclave, town, or fortress. Fallen Enchantress' superiority over Elemental War of Magic is orders of magnitude. I don't post often on these forums, but just want to give the developers a tip of the hat for a job well done thus far. I have gotten back into playing this game in a major

Agree with your post, about the only race which can explore is Tarth, which makes sense with the master scouts attribute. You cannot afford early game to not build pioneers, so pioneer spam needs to be overhauled. Hopefully the new city building/management will allow for an overhaul of the pioneer/settlement mechanics. You end up being forced to build pioneers, which the key to having strength in the game is having a high population, it does not seem possibl
Derek, you forgot one +Added Umber back and will give it some love and specialization later
Agreed, and don't forget Capitar, either, especially since game info section still lists 10 unique factions. Still don't get why the majority of the players like Tarth... [e digicons][/e]

I have found that my biggest problems early on were getting out paced by the AI in that my population lagged which creates a negative feedback loop and not putting out a decent defence when settling early cities. The random maps tend to be really bad where either the player or AI starts in a bottle neck. On large maps I don't think it is wise to have all races on the map, with mountains, ocean, and terrain that cannot be settled there tends to be a lot of 'dead' space.

Just aborted a game where basically started in such a position that there was no room to grow. Not sure what I am doing wrong, AI Tarth and Altar each jumpted out to three and four settlements respectively and I was more or less boxed in. There were no areas on the map, even with the toggle to show fertile areas to build cities. Needless to say, start locations need to be seriously addressed with random maps, the seeding is horrid. Yet again there was an Umberdorth lai

Just got leveled by an Umberdroth that the sneaky AI scouts activated near my capital. Did even have a chance to build a second settlement. On normal (default) settings getting repeatedly creamed by monsters. AI empires seem to do okay, most of the time they are large in size than my own, when looking at population and number of settlements. The strong monsters (Umberdroths, Fell Dragon yep saw Verga bite the dust challenging one of these early although not

Guess it is a little late to join this thread, favorite faction is Capitar, which has since been dropped. Hopefully, still there in terms of being able to create a custom faction. I like Mancers/Capitar for they remind me of Noldor/Vanyar from Simarillion, at least that is how they played in E WoM. I liked how the race was headed in FE with heavy war horse which imply a heavy cavalry focus, currently no race has a focus on heavy cavalry. Kind of surprised b

0.913 quick observations difficulty on normal, not up to speed yet for harder levels AI seems to decent job of expanding, last game still early less than 100 turns Pariden had six settlements and was probably on its way to being a powerhouse. Monsters don't seem to be overpowered near start locations. After about a half a dozen restarts have not seen any Umberdarths, Demons, or overpowering units close to cities. Drakes are also

I have to say the beta is great FE, is light years ahead of E WoM. As my username implies my only disappointment is the removal of my favorite Kingdom, Capitar. I really liked the direction that FE was headed with Capitar having war horse and the implied focus on heavy cavalry. Hopefully, Capitar makes a comeback in an expansion or patch. The world in FE seems more alive than E WoM and the game is only beta. So far the race differentiation seems to mak
