You all think too much. Make your game and let the chips fall from there. Just give us what you've got. That may just spoil a couple of my many/few days, and some for others, but... I personally think its about time to stop asking questions. Throw this thing out and be righteous with it. "This is a bad ass game and..." let the chips fall. edit (I have to apologize. I just want this game

hotemheb "Another thing: rush build when there is single turn left! This can reduce build times by more than 10% while it doesn't cost that much to do." I've used that method to get money back . I dont think of it as a bug, but more of a real-to-life concept. "We finished early boss, and under budget". Hey Hey!

Seanw3 just for fun. I dont know the code. Is it possible to code a big ol' baddie to chase you around after hitting ctrl-n so many times. after the 3rd or 5th time you hit ctrl-n he spawns and chases you around the map and knocks on the door of your first settlement. That would teach em'

So where is the random event to throw everything into a tailspin? Just kiddn'. Your mastery is that you make people feel your pain in trying to code that "perfect" AI. I feel for ya' and wish you the best.

Ok, First this is soooooooo much more smooth. Really liking it. First time I've really put in a few turns on 4A. I dont really care about balance at the moment. So the UI. Im playing on a 24" screen so its not a normal size screen I understand that, but if you can make all of the UI movable the same as you have the faction power tab it would help a lot. Even better is making the top tab movable. I'm laughing at myself for being selfish, but
Quoting UmbralAngel, reply 60I suggest you tie random events to forum posts so that the more people complain the more monsters harass them in-game. Now, that was a Major Chuckle ! ... and of course, Justice would be served, if your suggestion were implemented ...
Yeah I laughed also. Frog could make a care package download for them. Change it from .1

Im with Bellack. I dont always want to win. If you win every game you're not going to find much joy in the re-playability. I want to get severely punished for no good reason every once in a while just for the sake of being severely punished for no good reason. How about a random event where one of yours or the AI army (or hero) defects from one side to the other while your at war. That could really get you pissed off. If you the underdog you get it.
Quoting Bellack, reply 37I hope that you guys will be releasing an editor that will make this even easier for those of us who are not programmers. Eh? Modding XML tags isn't hard at all. You don't even need to worry about game logic, managing memory, or any of those really annoying things actual programmers do.
Oh how little you know, lol. XML is hard to get into.&nbs

I sincerely respect the work you guys are doing. This is not a diss. Just an idea that would not really take that much time, but would help sell. Write a script with a pre-generated map (so you know every item/monster etc. that will show up), and have either a woman, or someone that has a voice thats not like mine or yours read the script. We're all nerds here after all. You could pre-record the video without saying anything (if you do it slow), but have

I guess that wasn't a good question. Someone out there has to have at least given it a go. Or is everyone here just typing on the forum so they can hear themselves speak? Just kidding. Would love to hear if someone has done it.
4) Quests should be the only method to obtain new champions. This allows you to write a story for each. Allows for more in game quests without weapon proliferation. Finally, the mighty champions just look silly standing still waiting to be picked up or be killed.
This is a great idea! I don't agree that it should be the only way, but what if you gave those other stationary champions an area of influence?&

As for random events. Im all into those. Great post by the way. All of this would need a visual cue and a map scroll to the location. A volcano erupts from some mountain top and wipes out someones stuff. I dont care if its mine, or the other guys, its an instant change to any game plan (that goes for all theses ideas). Tidal wave, same idea. You could really have some fun and make something "Fall From Heaven" and start reeking havoc on anythin

...that is, besides getting slaughtered in one final battle? Im pretty impressed with the AI in general. I haven't found a way to get a leg up yet after 3 decently long games on ridiculous. Was wondering if anyone else was having a good time on that level or has actually won against 4-6 AI. Leave out the pioneer spam comments if you can. And please, please please, if any dev's read this, please... please... please... dont show me how mu

Simple request. You have Concoctions, Herbs, and Mushrooms. Can't we at least get a few beers from the brewery? If its possible, can it be stack-able? Like a % chance to just fall over in combat for no good reason and blast out a random spell. Falling over drunk and shooting a random fireball at your own army would be funny as all get out. I've seen a couple funny things in the game other than bugs, but a little more sense of humor would go a

If your reading frog, A guy on page 4 wanted more conversation options when you meet folk. Read his post please. Its a wonderful idea. In general it would be like the options for quest rewards, but would be a diplomacy action. Right off the bat meeting someone you could make a stance towards them. And you have no need to worry if they like or hate you instantly (or in 5 turns), you already know from your first meeting. That would make a great RP

Real quick one. on the army/monster stacking. Seen some complaints and even frog mentioned it in his video. You showed (or used to) an icon for stacked units. Just add a number to the icon. Haven't actually played b4 yet, but stacks had an icon in b3.

In the game above I destroyed the hordes that had repressed my people for too long, but by the time I was able to settle the plains in my geo-local, all that was left was a single opponent. It turns into a linear experience after that point. Sure I could try and do some questing, but I have one 1400 lb. monster (guilden) always knocking on my door. If the AI would chill out and kill some monsters for awhile longer before starting their wars, the wars would last longer and

Usually I take the hard route and this time I took on expert, huge map, and epic pacing. It seemed to me that the AI wanted to get a little too froggy fighting each other early on. They didn't forget about me by any means though. I was beaten back to my capital for quite a while (days) fending off the hordes. Once I started to venture out though, it was easy to see that the world had turned into a war without me. The old enemies of mine where

@Kongdej Can you explain "broke the game" for me. You and I obviously play different ways. I'm a sadist that likes to lose, and am virtually getting my butt handed to me on expert. It sure would be nice to venture out and do one of the quest surrounding me (that I first have to research) in order to get a chance at finding a random tech that no one else has, just to give me an edge. At the current I'm holed up in my one remaining city with its wood

I dont know about you city folk but I play on the harder difficulties. My play-style is determined by what I get from the land at the beginning of the game. Just trying to survive is hard, and most the time that's just what I have to do, survive. Rarely do I ever have a "plan". You take what the land gives you and use it for what its worth, two tiles at a time (lol). I cant understand why anyone would be against the idea of having random techs. The

Sorry, I have to chime in. Random is a good thing for me. The whole game is random anywayz. Random map, random monsters, random loot, random tiles, random rivers, random mountains and random starting positions. Why not have some random techs thrown in there. If I go on a quest and find this fancy item that is not in the tech tree (or not there yet) I can take it to the scientists and they break it apart to figure out how to make more of them. Then I have

I dont want it to be tedious just for the sake of it. What I was referring to was giving the tediousness a meaning in the near-to-end game. I want to make you/me/us micromanage a lot more. I love to micromanage. Its what I do for a living anyway. If you want to play a small map you dont have to worry about it as much, but on a large map I want to care about what I'm building and why, a lot more. If you could throw in those random events, setting up yo

Thanks for the update! Something I always had a problem with in GalCiv was the late game. I always play the largest maps possible. When you ended up with so many planets and so many build q's, enchantments/specializing did not mean a thing to me. BUT.... You fixed it with HUGE random events. It forces you to consider everything that could possibly happen. Its a thought of "One day this town may be rocked by a group of daemons that we never saw comin
