One interesting thing that I discovered If you add an item to a Sovereign to start, then it is autoequipped, even if there is no slot for it - so you could have two crowns equipped for example. In addition the bonuses that the item provides become permanently associated with the Sovereign, even if the item is later unequipped. For example, the substantial bonuses I get for this powerful artifact became permanently grafted to the Sovereign. A couple

Wow - thanks for the awesome response tjashen! You rock Indeed - copying the entire sovereign entry into mods allowed me to add custom items to start. The Scroll worked fine. I removed the DT prefix from the Potion of Growth and added a DT suffix. But when I used it the game crashed. I only assumed that all spells could be made into potions by adding a _Self suffix to the GiantForm_Self</S
PS- I tried your solution with the Token_BestFriend - and it worked. So maybe the AutoCreateEquipment only works for game original items? If so - that still leaves me trying to figure out how to test new magic items that I create for the game. For what it is worth here is the xml of the 2 new item I was trying to originally add <DisplayName>
Hi there, I really appreciate the response. However I tried this (added three new items) to the CoreUnits.xml for Procipinee. Then I fired up the game, ensured "Use Mods" option was selected. And she only had her two standard items. Thinking that there was some cap on starting items I deleted her standard equipment and fired the game up - and then she had nothing. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Also - moving forward - if you need to m
Hi there, I have created some new magic items that I would like to test to see if they work in the game. My problem is I don't know how to definitely get said items to do said testing. I thought maybe I could have them using 1 1 but items aren't actually selectable when you are
Really Loving LH Anyway - thought I would post this amusing story about the AI. So I am playing the Dwarflike race and am doing pretty well. I start mass producing Iron Golems every turn and they have a defense of 50 or something from my forge city. The wraith race is ahead of me in power but they are about 1000 miles away (Huge map). Suddenly they throw down at me - but who cares - they are so far away, right? I shrug my sholders and
I'm pleased but a LITTLE disappointed. I hoped there would be more meddling enabled. It seems diplomacy in any strategic game these days is completely meh. The game that showed me how unremarkable all the others were, was Gal Civ 2. Want to prop up factions by supplying them arms? Go ahead. Want to be a big scum bag and start wars and then sell arms to either side - sure. I imagine why most games ignore this ability to meddle is 1) Its probabl
Updated to v1.1, which wiped out my saves from a previous version. Drat - but okay. Played for 4 hours then saved. Now when I go to the load screen all of the save games (including the autosaves) say v1.02. This is bad because you can't load such a game. So when you save, make sure it saves it as the right version. Perhaps I should have rebooted after updating?
Just checked - think I know what is going wrong. Even though I updated to v1.1 before starting the game, the previous saves were saved as v1.02 for some reason. Now when I start another new game and save it, it says v1.1 on the popup for the save game like it should. Guess I am screwed.
Started new game with V1.1 tonight. Played for about 4 hours. Great fun. Then I save the game and exit out. Now when I try to restore the game, FE crashes. So I try the two autosaves. Same deal. So I reboot - same deal. I have the err file and the zipped file, but I am not interested in installing dropbox. Can I simply email the files ?
Thanks for the details! I'll definitely give those a try
I think the main problem for me is that I can never get any units better than Destiny's Guard and they are about as strong as wet cardboard. No matter the difficulty level, the AI out-expands me, out researches me, out produces me and out units me.
I'm thinking if the AI is crippled by about 99% I might have a chance. Loving the game - but DAMN I must be doing something wrong!!! Played first time on easy - got stomped. Okay, 1 below easy - Stomped. No worries, if its like Gal Civ 2 the lowest level will be like playing against potatoes. Well these are pretty smart potatoes because - you guessed it - stomped again. All three times I have played the default Porcinipee - does she
