From what I've studied, when the Annunaki first came to our planet, they numbered at about fifty. They (being technologically advanced Sentient beings, they quickly tired of farming and raising their own food) decided to create a Race of Primative Workers to take over the manuel work which included agriculture and mining, while the Annunaki became what I can only describe as more-or-less Hedonists.
