How do you delete factions you have made?

Anthor newbie question Leveling up units that are not your soveign or champion, some of my regular melee units go up levels but I see no change in thier stats or get an option to increase them, what effects do levels have on standard units.

After reading Gyb's manual it answered alot of questions, but if anyone can answer my one on research: What button/tab do I actually click to begin research, still not sure how to cast a spell in stratigic mode either. Gyb, thanks for your maunual and the effort you put in it...also guess alot of this question on research comes up with reading your opening early statagy where it states research production so you can build a great mill if kingdom, so would really like to know how

To Gyb: Just want to thank you for your Guide, just found your link on the forums, and it is already answering alot of my questions in my post above since my basic problem was just lack of documentation on some of the basic game mechanics and concepts. Thanks in advance will still take answers to my questions but will definetly check Gyb's guide first now that I found it.

Some Basic newbie questions: Spells: How do you cast these in strategic mode, I can get into my spellbook but don't seem to be able to actually cast the spells I have 10 mana and want to cast a 5 mana terrain changing spell for example how is this done.
