It's not really hard, it just seems it at first because everything is new to you. The game is actually quite easy once you know how. My suggestion is to take your time more. It's not a RTS (real time) so you don't have to hurry. You can take all day to take one turn if you like. So take your time, and read what everything does. It's not worth just building all the buildings because you'll just run out of money. You should read what the buildings do and then plan. Just split it up so t

I think it needs far better heroes. They don't need to be overpowered, but they should have more flavour than they do now. In Age of Wonders you can customise your heroes quite a lot. They usually start puny and don't really do anything besides a basic melee attack, but you can build them up however you want. You can give them archery or healing or turn undead or any number of abilities. And/Or you can give them magic and then they can cast any spells you can. They still could die eas

I want lots of stuff lol. I have gone back to AOW:SM too, it's such a fun game. And I play Heroes of Might & Magic 5 which is equally as good. I think this game could probably be better than them both, but it needs patch love.

Like I said in the other thread, for me at least, I think this game is still probably pipped at the post by other games like HOMM5 and AOW/AOW2:SM. They are prettier games and lots of fun and lots to do. I think this game is still a little bit thin and needs fleshing out some more. The key issue though, is that the other games are what they are and will never improve, whereas Elemental is comparable to those but is still not complete. They are releasing patches regularly and they have

[quote who="OMG_pacov" reply="15" id="2809857"] quoting post I will be flamed by the hardcore strategy guys, but I took a shot and bought this game three days ago.I have civ V and was completely bored,so I read all I could on this and took a chance at going against the game review polls and listen to the common gamer.Yes it needs AI work and other things but already it is addictive for me and I am having alot of fun.I know only a little of this game because it is and will be very de

Wow it's nice to see a company go from strength to strength like Valve. I didn't realise Steam had become so big, makes me wonder how much they make from it. No doubt they are far less greedy than Apple with their iTunes and apps store and stuff. I've always liked Valve because I remember when they first release Halflife and it was like a generational improvement to the genre. I was so bored of FPS's, and then finally, a game came along that really brought with it some new ideas and creativit

I agree with everyone, I'd say it's a good game at this point, and it's at the standard now it should really have been at release. Better late than never though. What I want to see now is for it to become a great game, and it needs a good amount of improvement to get to that point. But I think they are about to hit us with that now, so I'm pretty excited.

I think it would be good for you. I'm a newcomer not a hardcore fan who has read the forums a lot, so this is just my casual view of it all. By the sounds of it, this game was a real mess on release. But it has had I think NINE updates now :) The updates have got it to a point where it works well now and I'm not getting any major bugs. Not even any minor bugs in fact, besides one small issue which is a memory leak that means the game freaks out after you have played it for a few hours

I didn't really know where to stand on this game because I wasn't sure how much was due. I think the game needs various fleshing out, so hearing about this 1.1 update is great news for me. If after that update this game is as good as I'm hoping, I promise to praise you on various big gaming forums on the interwebs. It's already an "OK" game, and it's extremely promising, but I find that it's lacking some oompf and some important content. I think if you can get that stuff added, while managing

There definitely was a golden age of gaming. I played through it and it was fantastic. Although as others have said, games were a lot simpler back then, so it's to be expected that they were more complete on release. In fact, when I first started gaming, most of them were made by 1 guy in his bedroom. So games today are far more complex, and that is a reason why they are harder to get polished for release, but that doesn't mean it's justifiable to just release them too early and then rely on

I would like this: 1) Fix the memory leak bug 2) Make it so that you can learn some abilities on your heroes that you recruit. Archery, healing, spell casting, entanglement, etc.. basically steal the stuff you can do in AOW :P 3) Make the maps more interesting, with far more bottlenecks and things to slow the game down a bit. More mobs, mobs that guard the mines and stuff so you have to kill them first. Rivers with a bridge so you have to go to the bridg

Right on. I just played another game now (of Elemental) and it's really fun. Reminds me a LOT of AOW. I do hope for some fleshing out though, and then I'll be really happy. At the moment it's nothing especially new. I think it does some things better than AOW but some things worse. With some updates though it could be the best. I hope that will come soon.

That makes sense about killing the faction. In Age of Wonders and the other games I've played like this, if you play on a huge map with lots of opponents, later in the game, it can take AGES for it to calculate the AI's turns. The computer can get really bogged down at this point. But once you kill them, it all goes super fast again, like turn 1. I guess these games just struggle late in the game when so much is happening. Although, at least with other games you can struggle on and win. This

Yep I own Civ 5 (and 4 and 2). Wish I had tried call to power though! I think you are right that Civ 5 is better and that the overland map works similar to the zoomed in sub maps. I disagree that it's the same though. With AOW, when you zoom in, you have city walls to smack down using a catapult. You then have various units with quite a bit of variety in how they work. Archers shooting you from a distance, Orc Warlords who like to get between your troops and spin in a circle attacking

The original AoW is so cool, I played countless hundreds of hours in that game. The thing I liked was how could build a really good character from the ground up. He would start as a warrior with crappy stats and no skills, and you could make him in to a healer with archery and first strike and spell casting and great stats. I loved the underground too, something I will miss in this game.

Hi, I love this game so far, I thought I would post some feedback. Maybe most or all of this has been mentioned before but I'll post it anyway incase its of some value. I don't know the history of this game, but I am a huge fan of HOMM5 and the Age of Wonders series. I bought this game based on my love of those basically. Anyway, here are my thoughts in no particular order. 1) First impression is that the game is brilliant, with masses of depth, way more than the two ot
