This is just me, but for the lack of summons, the magic system feels very polished already.
The magic system is quite robust, and it's been well-coded, that much is clear. What we're suggesting is more magical drama, more counterspell/interrupt/dispel/disenchant mechanics, and more visible overland spell-casting.

The AI should only be able to cast spells on your city if he's able to view it: e.g. his scout unit is nearby. They should not be able to cast 'through' a fog of war.

I've noticed two variations of armies sharing the same tile, without merging. 1. a champion ends his journey (depletes movement points) on the same tile as my sovereign. My sovereign has movement points remaining. I try to attack using the champion. Result: Can't select champion until next turn. 2. I attack an enemy stack and win. Something happens (I don't know what) and the enemy is able to insert a stack under my own army. I have to move off the tile, then attac

I attacked the worm whilst playing as a kingdom sovereign. The tactical battle screen opened and the units stood around. Animations were correct. However, it seems that the initiative roll did not begin: I was unable to select any units (my own or the enemy worm), no popups appeared when I moused over a unit, and no key-presses did anything. I was able to skip the battle by clicking the 'skip to battle resolution&#3
Quoting momosa, reply 12A proper test would be to see if he can beat the slag without any help from you. If so, then he might be over-powered. No, mana may be a resource but that doesn't mean you ignore it. It can still be unbalanced or exploitable. Technically a Sov weapon has a price, doesn't mean a fair test is limited to fisticuffs.
My main issue right now is that, playing as Gilden, my sov is ridiculously powerful even in early game. I walked up and destroyed, solo, a red con slag. I had a few pieces of equipment, nice shield and helmet, and a good sword I found. I took the defending path and various defensive traits to make him my tank. Well, against a tough slag, he just soaked up most damage, counter attacked for damage, and either attacked or

It can be set to damage them as well or ignore them and only hit enemies. For some reason the spells are set to not be castable instead. I would like to be able to curse my own towns before they are taken by an enemy. I would like to cast Growth on enemy units and Shrink on my units. I would like Raise Mountain to have more options so that I can raise one

I run a Radeon 6450 on an i7 quad-core with Win7 64 and 4Gb RAM. The game's performance is good, except for occasional FPS drops in these conditions: 1. Tactical battle, grassland (can't identify any other reason for FPS slowdown than that) 2. Fog of war that seems suddenly thicker than it was before. For item 1, the FPS slowdown can disappear both during and after the battle. For item 2, if I quit the game and re-start it, the slowdown d

A simple suggestion: to allow you to cast spells in tactical combat when no sovereign and/or hero is present. Justification: Sovereigns can already cast overland spells, why should they not be able to assist remote units in combat? I'd also suggest it not be limited to your own borders - this will make the enemy AI's attacks more dangerous and interesting, and make magic-use more useful as a strategy.

The problem, to me, seems to be that raised or lowered land becomes an unexpected terrain-type. E.g. the plains on top of the hill in screenshot2; or in the bottom screenshot: 1. Mountain terrain at the base 2. Hill terrain in the middle 3. Mountain terrain at the summit.

After several hundred turns, there's a certain song that seems to play over and over (is it linked somehow to a milestone in your development or conquest of the map?) I rarely turn game music off, but did so here, because this same background song began to play, even after an event song had played.

Hello, my view is that overland spells are a visible and tangible indication of a sovereign's personality. You could be using this more effectively, IMHO. I raise these suggestions because I see how you've tried to create leaders with different personalities, and think this would help you. I use Master of Magic as an example: in a game of MoM, you'd know that Jafar was nearby even if you hadn't encountered him yet, because you'd see his sorcery spells going off at
