It still happens to me on rare occasions. But the worst part is that it sometimes happens when saving the game and the last time that happened, it ate the savegame... :s Word of advice: cycle through several savegames.
I think Civ4 resource style worked fine in that game and would work fine in this one. I loved the anticipation of researching a resource revealing tech, always wondering if I'd have to start a war with the persians to get that much needed oil.
Damn Brad, leave the game as it is. If I'm already this addicted to the game, after a few weeks and patches I'll have no social life at all...
Good list, can't wait to see it delivered. Regarding resources, I don't know if the resources popping up only in your area of influence after researching "Exploration" is a bug or just bad game design, either way it needs to be adressed.
