You have to wonder from this example if the road algorithm avoids rivers at all costs. If it just crossed the river it would have a direct route.
That path makes a lot of sense actually. I think that it's impossible to build a diagonal bridge so it can only cross the river at straight angles, so that means that it could only waypoint out of Erirark at that angle. From that point it could have gone straight sou

I really am so sic n tired of complainers and whiners and boo hoo-ers complaining about the "difficulty" of the AI. L2P and it will be a better game. I have a ton of complains about the game, the 1.05 version is extremely far from a finished game, if you look at my post history you'll see that I'm quite a loud complainer about it, but I agree with Brad that it's the 1.05 version, not 1.00 that should be reviewed. 0-day patches is the norm for PC-Gaming nowadays because it takes months to send away the master CD and get the game printed, all the Game CD is expected to do at this point is install the game and indulge people that h
As far as people feeling they are "ripped off" by paying $50 for EWOM...I feel MUCH more ripped off when I am expected to pay $50 for a game, then download a huge patch, then expected to pay $15 every month for the privilege to play.
Good MMO's are usually by far worth those $15 a month because they provide a ton of value, they have to because otherwise you'd have no reason to keep playing, according to Xfire I spent over a thousand hours playing WoW, that dwarves any o
Quoting cloglobster, reply 20 I own hundreds of PC games, some good, some great others poor. Some hasn't been well recieved by the reviewers but are still great games _for me_, others are bad like they say. The point with reviews are that they're subjective. It's what the reviewer thinks of the game and doesn't have to apply to your taste. . Which makes me wonder - what's the point? If a reviewer is
Umm, no. Critics love SC2 because they're in bed with big developers. SC2, after the huge wait and build up, feels like a 5 year old game. It literally is SC1 with better graphics, and THAT is a problem.
No they're not, Critics give the big developers better reviews because in general the big developers make better games. As much as I love the fact that indie developers explore new and interesting game ideas, the fact of the matter is that indie games are very oft
I wonder if the ring and amulet abuse was acctually added into the balance thought process when they decided to only give you one stat at levelup? So that accessories tie your sovereign strength to how well your kingdom is acctually doing, because if your kingdom's doing badly or the AI is handing you your ass on a silver platter then you're hardly going to have the cash to power-up your sovereign with trinkets are you. I'd like the spells to get a bit more interesting. Offensively the only differences between the spells seems to be range and radius, I think they should take a page out of Kings Bounty and get a bit more interesting effects. Just out of the top of my head: Spells that are more powerful but can friendly fire Spells that push/pull aswell as damage Roots/Polymorphs/Petrifications Mines/Walls of fire Also more interesting areas, like cones or horizonta
The truth is, there's often a "best tool for the job" situation with various design challenges. With regards to moving armies around a map, hexes are better. Even if I "like" squares more, it doesn't matter, because hexes simply make more sense.
As have been pointed out, with an action point system you can get all the advantages of Hex if you want, what I'm not sure if you understand is that when you design a game you're not really after wh

I think Hexes vs Squares is probably the least important issue the game has right now. Personally I dislike Hexes for two reasons 1) You can't move in a straight line which is the most common movement you usually want to do and 2) They're ugly as fuck. I honestly don't think it matters if you use Squares or Hexes, in the big scheme of things who really cares that the Squares allow you to move 1.5 boxes per move if you move sideways? And if you do care so much, you can just make dia

So that's why a lot of my cities suddenly became unable to build more buildings. I really hope they make this more obvious in future patches as I had 3 smallish cities that couldn't build any buildings and I was completely mystified as to why as the UI doesn't tell you, it just grays out the building options.

What I thought the first time I played the game was that you could only ever equip 1 of each item, so you could have 10 different amulets, but not 10 of the same one. I think that would probably be the most balanced approach, because then you could get a slight boost to all stats but you couldn't stack anything to high heavens. The other alternative would be that each stat would only be boosted by the highest individual modifier rather then add them up, that would allow you to make

I don't think Int vs Def is necessarily bad. However I think you should really reconsider how much defense a stack has. It makes sense to multiply their damage and their HP based on stack-size, but I can't see any rationale for why they should get harder to hit. If there's 12 enemies in one spot, how the heck do you miss? I don't know exactly how the code looks, but if you recode stacks so only their damage and HP is multiplied and their accuracy and defense remains the
