This may have been their planned strategy before the release. As we know, the release did not go as planned so this may change too.
Date on the image is 08/27/10, and people "just got this" they said. Sounds like it is new and post-release. I think it was an attempt to stress that Stardock is committed to improving the game in the near future, and that your purchase of the game gets you
You missed my point. I never meant to say Elemental is completely solid (no such program exists). What do I mind is like this review (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/battlefieldbadcompany2/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B0) to a game which was completely unplayable for ATI folks, extremely bad optimization (do not even dare arguing about 'bad performance' in front of me unless you tried BFBC2), and so many unpolished things, bugs like....<b
The whole "you can't lose units or you need to start over" thing was why I didn't like Wesnoth & the Fantasy Wars games. I didn't know I was supposed to start over if that happened. I assumed since, you know - I won the mission and all, that I could continue along. Running into a brick wall of impassibility two or three missions later because I had two level 3 archers die when I played two nights ago was infuriating, and I uninstalled the games and threw them in
@lord ebonstone I would assume, then, the fact that I've been playing the game just about every evening and enjoying it greatly is some kind of strange illusion of fabrication on my part? I can readily admit that the game has a number of flaws, some of which are striking (I've elaborated both on these forums and to friends of mine at length concerning such things), but that doesn't mean that I'm simply not enjoying it f
I think it's necessary to clarify the "...nature of software..." bit. Consider a company that produces software for a mid-sized bank or a company like Target (software for financial records, tracking stock, online sales, etc.). How would customers of said software react should the software be released in a condition similar to Elemental's? For whatever reason, customers of computer games generally accept a 'quality'
How about the HUSBAND and FATHER hat?? He's been trying to go on sabbatical, he was just on vacation--no doubt with his family--and now this. 20 laid off people who also have families. Talk about a tough spot. We need a COO and some more able-bodied blood at the helm of Stardock. Not because of this "failure", but because too much of Stardock rides on Brad Wardell.&nbs
As someone who has been laid off before (who hasn't, nowadays?) I feel badly for those at Stardock who are left without gainful employment. I also believe that, like Elemental itself, Brad is also suffering from featuritis. The game tries to do many things, to be too many things, and it fails to do almost all of them to the level people purchasing a $50 title are happy with. Loyal Stardock fans generally feel the game is lacking that special Stardock "feelin
I shelved Elemental after this whole debacle. I'm waiting to try it again after this magical patch they claim will make it fun (or at least playable on my x64 PC) So I'm playing the following with all my game time now (most were suggestions by friends or other forum members in response to my complaints about Elemental - ie "Well if you want lots of depth .. try this ...) -> Dominions 3 (so ugly it reminds me of the D&D
I just use them to build roads between my cities (that I never use, because "strategy" in Elemental devolves into having a couple big stacks that murder everything). I never even bothered to check if i was getting a bonus to anything ... I had assumed it was a gold bonus. Honestly I make caravans once or twice a game, link stuff with roads to make it look pretty, and ignore them. I'm rarely short on resources or need to move quicker from point A-to-point-B u
I've seen these since 1.05. They may have been in earlier versions but I couldn't play without crashing very frequently so I started over a lot. They don't connect to anything, no, but they usually allow decent speed exploration on larger maps.

Even if this wouldn't be the case (mind you IT IS), the Modders will create massives amount of content and fixes. In fact, they are already doing a hell of a job with the currently limited ressources available. Just give this game some time. If you come to think of it, the release ver
.. oh, two more (short, I promise) points: Point 1: I hate ... HAAAATE when I purchase a game, want it to play and be fun out of the box, and when it doesn't work someone shows up and says "you have to mod it to be fun" or "the game isn't meant to be played out of the box, it is a platform for mods." The same happened when I purchased "Mount & Blade: Warband" ... I got a buggy, non-properly-functioning game through digital distro' and when I went to the
WARNING - LOTS OF TEXT [e digicons]:bebi:[/e] I think a lot of the reasoning behind the "hate" in the forums is actually due to a select group of fanboys from the other side of the coin. Those that have read my (very few) posts will know that I am unhappy with the game. I am unhappy on many different levels: Unhappy because I do not feel it currently lives up to its promised potential (this may change - i

A.) There is a technology in the military tree you can research that adds a "Raze City" button to the city menu when you look at it (in the book in game) ~ or ~ B.) Just skip that, highlight the city, and press 'x' on the keyboard instead .. and it'll raze (after a "Are you sure?" style prompt) .. both work .. one obviously works from the start, making the tech version pretty
This review, again, leaves me confused. Are all of us playing the same game? I see bug reports about crashes (I have 2 current BIG crashes going on: Out of Memory; and another that randomly just "has stopped responding" the game) yet any mention of the crashes in the forums has people screaming that THEY don't have crashes, so to shut up. I see complaints about slowdowns (after about an hour or two of playing my framerate in game drops so fa

I read these threads and I wonder if I'm playing the same game as other people. I'm not exactly sure how the game creates its maps at this point but it seems like some people get one kind, some people get the other. In my games (I've played a few short ones per patch version, and at least one long one per patch version) I tend to either spawn next to a good set up of resources, or pretty much nothing, which means I'm starting horribly slow. </p
Yes. They have the same type of setup of "good aligned" flavor monsters.
