The dumb AI is the game's biggest problem right now. Obviously human opponents will diminish this problem, but usually most gamers don't play 4X games for their MP component (since each game takes hours to finish). AI is one of the most important things in 4X games, and in its current state it's really really bad. I really want to like this game, but it's way too easy since the AI isn't functioning. At all.

Just played with 7 "hard" AIs, "challenging" world, and the game is still a joke. After 70~ turns, the AI didn't even expand beyond 1 city, and had no army at all. with a bunch of recruited heroes, 2 summoned units and some Guardians, I conquered the entire world in a few dozen turns. The game's AI is not only flawed, it simply doesn't exist. And besides that, I think the game is also very shallow. The city management aspect is very very lacking compared to other 4X games like Civ. To

he point is making it smarter, not just harder. making a hard game is quite easy and has nothing to do with AI. the current state of the ai is just shameful imo, and i see little point in playing it until the ai reaches a "passable" state.

Just finished my first game (not campaign) on "challenging", which actually wasn't very challenging, to say the least. Game is really good, enjoyable, deep etc, but in some serious lack of polish imo. the campaign sucks. there's no strategy or anything - just spam units, pass the turns, and go from location X on the map to location Y. the story is meh and writing is boring, and 95% of the world is just plain empty and lifeless. i truly hope the "skirmish" game is better. the campaign really turned me down up to now.
