I've gotten into a spot of trouble facing Magnar in my current game and decided to try and solve the sticky situation with a spot of diplomacy. To my surprise, he wanted some 13000 gold for a non-aggression pact! I'm assuming that this is due to the fact that having a bigger army skews the diplomatic costs tremendously (as has been disgussed in other posts). What I'm going on about in this particular post is that he's also -10000 gold in the whole according to the diplomacy screen. I can't sp

My wizard apparently throws all he has magically into every auto-decided combat in which he indulges. I'd really like him to cease with the fireballs when confronting foes he is faster than and can one-shot with his staff! Is there a way to disable auto-combat when you are facing only one foe? Or, better yet, is there some way to tell your heroes to not use their mana in combat? I really would like to cast some strategic spells!
Am I missing something or is there no way to ever build on a forest square? This seems odd because pretty much the first thing that goes in a civilization is the forest. They tend to get cut down to be used for building supplies, fire wood, grazing land and even agriculture. Perhaps pioneers could auto clear a forest square when they settle. Also, perhaps when placing buildings within a town's limit, you could place them upon forest squares, assuming that the forest would be cleared to make w
I've played for about two houra all told and the one thing stopping my settlements from exapnding beyond settlement level is a complete lack of food. Where does one find this resource? How do you exploit it? I have not found a tech yet that allows me to build farms or any similar thing on fertile soil ... I need food to build huts. Thanks in advance
