How much time does an animation take to make? I'm curious because it always seemed like a massive timesink to me, one that players at least never talk about.
The problem with being a really good animator is that the best you can hope for is an animation that people don't notice. Animation's the type of thing that people only notice when it's done poorly (See Morrowind).

Wildmana significantly improves the AI of the original FFH2. In fact, I believe Kael used some of Sephi's AI work for some of the later patches for it. The AI can actually be a challenge in it. But still, with all the modding, Civ IV's AI wasn't really meant to handle some of the stuff FFH2 throws at it. There's only so much modding can do.

The problem with the "adapt" strategy is that pretty much all routes require warfare anyway. You can't win a diplomacy setting without access to metal. Your units will be too weak, and then other factions will dislike you (pretty significantly...-5 is a huge hit to take). Magic, while somewhat of a work-around, still puts you at an extreme disadvantage. No summon will ever be powerful enough to take out a few well-armed troops, and there simply aren't enough summons to go around, so they need

Forgive my unfamiliarity, but how, exactly, would a TB We-Go work in a tactical simulator? What happens if they just move the unit away from where I wanted to attack them? Do my units just auto-follow who I want to attack? In that case, how would situations like flanking work when you have no idea where an enemy unit is going to go?

Having only ever played MoM after I played Elemental, I'd say I have to disagree. MoM has a lot more going for it from a gameplay standard, even if the UI and graphics don't really meet today's standards for a game. While I do enjoy Elemental, and I do think it could become a great game, at the moment, it still has a lot to do for me to seriously consider calling it the spiritual successor to MoM.

If they provide updates for a year, they will be living up to the ad.

One of the devs said in chat last night, if I remember correctly, that fixing it caused a slew of new problems, and since magic is being overhauled for 1.1 anyway, they're not going to spend time trying.

In my most recent game, I was playing a warmongering sovereign, and when I got to one of the cities, I noticed a Siege button. Unsure of what it did (I'm still not quite sure), I clicked it. A few turns went by, and I noticed that a group of enemies was nearing a poorly-defended city, so I teleported my sovereign and his army near them. However, since I never technically ended the siege (never clicked the siege button to cancel), the game still thinks he's sieging. It won't let him move (the
"but" you say "A crappy game is no basis for a refund! You can't get a refund for an overcooked steak once you've eaten it!" - while this argument by itself is foolish and imbecilic...
Actually, no it's not. It's no more the game company's fault for you buying a game you don't like because you didn't wait until a demo, than it is the restaurant's fault for you not pointing out that your steak was overcooked after you took the first bite. My first game, the Kraxis (my closest neighbors) had 3 cities within 85 turns. Unfortunately, all that meant was that they had 3 very weak cities, so I took over 2, and then killed their sovereign. I had them set for normal AI.

I just don't understand this. Is getting a small quest earlier than other places really worth whining over? Not supporting a potentially great game because of it is just ridiculous.
It'll still be a couple of hours. Bear in mind we're between gold and day 0 so we're having to put this stuff together. We weren't even planning on being here today.
Thanks for putting in the effort for us even though you don't really have to. Even though I only pre-ordered a few days ago, it's nice to see a company that is willing to put this much effort into pleasing their pre-orders.

It seems that most/all people who pre-ordered after beta don't have it in Impulse, so I wouldn't worry about it. I trust they know what they're doing.
