Personally I find the early game too frantic and fast, I want it slower. Spit out your first workshop in less then 10 turns (if you pick a good location and have earth magic). After that you get your lumber mill and it's off to the races. Research is paced a little better but still almost through the entire game you are getting new stuff every 10ish turns. Currently there is no reason to not build everything everywhere, the build time is meaningless most of t

So one thing I've noticed that bugs me is we can essentially dupe items by farming enemy champions. If you defeat an enemy champion you get their weapon, so if you want an infinite supply of weapons (and money), you can just sit outside the factions final city and defeat the champions as they come out. I see two ways to deal with this, first champions don't drop their weapons. The other option is to remove the weapon from a champion when they are defeated.&nb
If you mouse over the cave it shows an icon with a shield, the color of the shield reflects weak, strong, epic... Gray is weak, red is strong, purple is epic.... This could probably be exposed in a better manner, but it is there.
re: the squishy units issue - build a custom unit with the two +con upgrades and the 25% xp trait and babysit them for a few levels. I've had some units with pretty massive hp, easily allowing them to tank serious damage. Armor alone isn't enough, you need to get them the levels for the bonus hp.
Units with 300hp still take 100+ damage when they get attacked. So they don't die in one round of combat, but they can&#
Right now unit damage out does Hero or monster damage by a large margin, once you get decent weapons and 7 man units, against other units. However, against a hero or monster with a high defense they are useless. The other issue I see is how much damage they take, they really are glass cannons, even with plate armor. Basically in the end game I use my units to take out enemy units, I use my hero to take out other heroes and monsters. However, I do have to say th
I have a custom sov with no spell books. If you load up on all the good traits they become extremely over powered. Of course it's very game breaking, but that is the point of beta. As for Pariden, going that route actually makes the game challenging in the early turns. If you don't get a melee hero right away you are stuck unable to kill the creatures running around. Which means you can't really level. The only solution I&
I'm getting CODs every couple hundred turns in Civ 5, just like EWoM. Getting weird AI behavior. Getting weird graphics glitches. Getting un-explained slowdowns. Just the same it is fun, just like EWoM. To forestall the question I'm well above the recommended specs.
Yes mods were created using valve's engine pre-steam times. Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Natural Selection etc were all fantastic mods that boosted the popularity of Half-Life. Correct me if I'm wrong but ever since the implementation of Steam I have not seen any popular mods come out for their games like Half-Life 2. Team Fortress 2 you had to pay for, Portal you had to pay for, and every other mod that used to be free suddenly became pay to

I got a CTD during tactical combat when a enemy unit attacked my familiar. It was the second round of combat, during the first round I missed with all ranged attacks. http://pastebin.ca/1943321
I'm having the same problem, happening with catapults as well.
the problem is, the game is actually quite picky on where you click... and since you can't rotate map view, it can be exceptionally difficult to click the proper spot. The mouse cursor as well does not accurately represent where you have clicked. So... taking away redirect seems a bit like punishment. It would be nice to have highlighted paths (as a pre-cursor to waypoints) and a move-confirmation (toggle-able). [/quot
You have to research the recruit heroes portion of the Adventure tree to recruit heroes (now), not the quest level or resource portions.
Was meaning to post something similar, about magic being too strong now. I had one fire shard, with infernal I am able to destroy 8 units out of a 10 unit stack in the first turn with just my SOV. Seriously being able to do ~30 damage to 9 tiles at a time is too much given current unit HP, basically I can destroy any army almost instantly. However, on a positive note enemy SOVs run away when I chase them with a more powerful stack now, which makes wars

The bug is simply that they didn't update th
The expected outcome when you have 1 attack versus 1 defense is hitting 25% of the time, so 1 out of 4 attacks. Basically you each roll a 0 or 1 (right now, this may change) so there are four possible outcomes: You 1, Bear 1 - Miss You 1, Bear 0 - Hit You 0, Bear 1 - Miss You 0, Bear 0 - Miss As for spells missing, what does the name matter? A miss is the same as complete resistance,

Then once it's all back on track, then maybe you can do something about it... The issue with that is that bad cracks can and do cause new malfunctions in the game, which pirates then try to get support from us for (!) and our time is wasted chasing down such illegitimate reports when we're try

Same thing happened to me, so I just started selecting the champion and then using their actions menu to talk to them, it avoids any accidental killing.

I am surprised that quest rewards are so meh; i woul dhav ethought rare/magical items would "drops" for the heroes making them special. As folks have pointed out peasants are more powerful.I love th eidea of special skills/advancements for heroes and perhaps tactical skills (more tactical movement,

The top left corner of the icon will work as a pointer, a little practice and you'll get it down (still a bug, but it's a decent work around), the other option is to go into the video options and turn on hardware cursor (you always get the windows pointer icon then). I hope they fix this bug, but those are the work-arounds I use right now.
Maybe it's because I'm a developer, but I didn't form an opinion about the game based on 1.00 or 1.01, it wasn't until 1.05 that I started looking at issues with the game. I know from personal experience that when you push out a gold CD it just won't be ready, it is generally in the middle of a QA cycle so you're going to have to do a release day patch. Since someone broke street date we didn't get to play the game as it was intended to be played, we played
