I like the fact that they're rare. It gives real value to them as a resource...enough to go to war over, unlike most other resources for which there are plenty. Owning a horse resource gives a genuine tactical advantage. There are lots of other ways to increase speed, but the +combat speed is really nice as well. And it makes you feel really good when you can finally build mounted units. And the thing is, they're still worth researching even without acess to a horse resource

There's really only a sampling of the things they eventually want to get into the mix in the game right now. When damage vs armor types are made more transparent, that will help. In addition some units have special abilities, and they wanted to do more of these. I can easily see research-able magic items or kits that grant special tactical abilities to units, like the assassination ability, or that smiting ability some heroes have. If magic resistances are made transparent, I can see ge

I disagree. There are perfectly viable pre fab units available for people who dont want to mess with designing their own army. Modders will provide more. Do there need to be *more* options for differentiation? Yes. But at any given time, a human mind is going to make better decisions about the types of units they make in a given situation, even if it's a decision about whether they want a unit to cost two crystals, or one. The ability to research exactly the tech you want,

You should be able to eventually research "training academies" for the end game, that allow you to exchange (a lot of) gold and materials (crystals too , probably,,,need more use for shards) to train up heroes stationed in that city. It should be prohibitively expensive for higher levels though. Just a way to make sure your less used heroes are in competitive shape for the end game.

Some things I don't like: 1)Spending character points for equipment. Waste. You can buy a decent weapon to get you started just as easily, and you're going to get a better weapon/armor at some point, basically meaning those points are wasted, unlike points put into a stat or ability, which are useful the entire game. I'd rather see a choice of starting equipment "packages", separate from the point buy, that you could balance amongst themselves. For instance, one might in

So, you don't want to be a "warmonger", but you want to put back in the ridiculously overpowered early game summoning spells that allow you to roll over half the map with infinite units that units that have no material costs, before anyone can possibly resist you?
Units seem to gain health as they level up, but not hero/sov types - those you get the point to spend. I'm playing Tarth too and they just get a % health boost.
I honestly have no idea then. As the tarth, by level 3 my heroes/sovs would all be at 20+ hp without putting any further points in con. This is was all prior to 1.05, and in the late beta. Unfortunately, I think I nuked all my save games,

Technical/stability issues are the most important...some people still can't play the game well. Followed by a reasonable degree of bug smashing so that at least the things that work, work like they're supposed to. Then balance, A.I, system expansion and overhaul. Luckily Stardock is able to work on more than one thing at a time.

Because my units always gained more and more HP. Unless maybe one of Tarths special abilities accounts for that. Their max hp just kept going up.

IMO there is a ton of tweaking that needs to be done in this area to avoid this kind of stuff, watching two high defense units fight it out hitting each other for zero for 3 minutes then one of them finally breaking through and one shotting the other is kinda boring and doesn't seem like what sh

Zero damage shows up as "misses", so youre probably not missing so much as failing to do sufficient damage against powerful/high defense/high magic resistance units. The battle descriptors need to be more transparent.

I've got Death Worship on a custom race. The units *do* have more HP than they would normally, but not +10 extra hp. For instance, the basic soldier unit I designed should have 5 HP, according to the unit builder, but they come out with 10 HP. I cant figure out any other place the extra HP are coming from. Never mind. I figured out the extra HP was from having them stationed in a city, which seems to grant
Edit: one more thing, with a custom sovereign, can you start with equipment? When I passed an AI sov in the first few turns, he had a sweet looking staff, while I had nothing. Do spouses' traits influence the traits of your offspring? Ive always tried to marry the most powerful option available, which would kind of suck if I had to waste her talent by sticking her in a castle to keep from dying.

I have a Nvidia card with up to date drivers, and I get the DX error crash occasionally when alt tabbing too. I don't recommend alt-tabbing until they figure that out. Play the game in windowed mode at your desktop resolution. It's indistinguishable from full screen, except you can pull up desktop elements without alt tabbing. I haven't had a crash in over 24 hours since starting to play that way.

It's *going* to be an amazing game. It isn't right now, for technical and gameplay flaws that degrade an incredibly promising core game. It was forced into release early, and there's no getting around that. However, as someone familiar with Stardock's slavish dedication to improving and refining their games, and listening to community feedback, you couldn't pry this game out of my hands right now. It's still got tons to offer, and I know my feedback will be listened to and conside
