Master of Magic was a single player game, made for a single player, and concerned itself with how the game played for the single player playing the game. The AI was never asked if it was less fun to get facestomped every time, to get doombolted to death while having units volcano sniped overland, or to have entire armies break against the unmovable Lionhearted, Invulnerable, Charm of Lifed, Warlorded paladins standing along in your city. Sixteen peasants with hammers would ne

The AI doesn't have a good grasp of the effects of the Areas of Influence. That tactic isn't actually a bad one if he weren't in your AoI - he'd lose a point of essence but have good scouting info on your forces. I am almost certain that when Frogboy gets back he'll work on this. I've seen several posts to this effect.
My mother's birthday was last Saturday and I am trying to date this girl at work... so I have been short on cash. Should this be the game? Will you be playing this game when Civilization V comes out or the month after that or by Christmas? Honestly?
Here's what to do. Take your $50. Recruit this girl from work. With her in your party, adventu

Hello, everyone. Looking over (some of) the many posts about the magic system in Elemental, it seems that a lot of people are feeling that something's missing. Here's my attempt to define what's missing, and start an idea for how to fix it. I'm interested in trying to mod this, but I have no modding or xml/python experience at all, ever, so for starters I'd like to hear feedback on this idea while I try to learn. I think that what's missing is grand, sweeping magic that shake

You would nerf my Shortsword of Sprinting +1? What's next, you heartless villain? Tell me I can't fit 200 rings on my fingers? What if I'm *excellently endowed* ? Like, you know....with extra fingers. Maybe then? "Janusk? Janusk...woah. Dude, what *is* that stuff? Cut me another line of that go fast powder with that wicked blade you've got there." "Yes, my liege."

I'm sorry, I just want to point out to all of you that you got trolled by a bot that doesn't even pass a Turing test. You may find it interesting to see what chatbots can do these days. The OP is one ^_^

The art. It's like playing a painting. The way techs unlock things on the overland map - it really feels like I'm rediscovering a world. The fact that it's not ashamed to be a little hardcore. And lastly, the fact that there's a great game there that just needs some TLC to scratch that MOM itch.

Beating the AI? -exploit the stickiness of AI targetting by making their armies chase you around in circles while you devour their cities and starve them. -exploit their excessive eagerness to run up to you and absorb the first shot (I have no archers, why do you not stand fast? Oh, well.) -exploit their surprisingly slow reactions to your hitting their outlying colonies (hit three or four at once and look to grab their most obvious farm city in the init

There are two troll stacks and also a darkling army stack. You have to kill all of them to progress the quest. Look for a big troll in the mountains to the north, the darkling army nearby, and a troll until by a cave to the northeast (all this is assuming "up" is north). There are a few parts in the campaign that aren't always crystal clear. If you get stuck, try to remember the general task, then see if there's anything strongly related. In particular, think about "fin

Sov + champions take enemy city. Enemy sov comes roaring in with an army that can pummel my sov. I stay in the city, he kills me. No problem. I think I'll sacrifice the city and fall back to get reinforcements from nearby city. As I leave the city undefended, the enemy sov does the ridiculous - he goes around my empty city. Yes, the AI decides that it's better to wage war in a Zone of Permanent Irrevocable Death than to grab the city, benefit (?) from the defensive structures and

I'd like to nitpick about something most everyone's agreeing on, and up front I want to admit it's tied to an opinion I have you might not share. I think magic scales *excellently* in this game. What you need to do to make magic relevant in the mid and late game, however, is stop using it as a primary nuke and shift to unit support. You're of course right that the damage spread is wonky for direct damage. But you know what isn't unpredictable? Adding fire damage to each member of your

I don't agree with this. I very much like that once a unit in a squad dies, it's dead. That's how it is at the moment, and that's how it should stay. I think this is terrible without at least some means of replenishing the squad (by merging units into it). Which then becomes MM busywork, so its easier to just let the squad heal back to full health. Just a quick point - there's a game called Elven Legacy which is more or less a reskin (sequel is argu

Hello everyone. The campaign mode of Elemental worked flawlessly for me and was a great tutorial, so thank you to the devs for that. The map mode, however, is exhibiting a strange behaviour I can't figure out. When fighting enemy sovereigns, or when champions are fighting wandering monsters, I can't take tactical control of the battle. And at the risk of raising the Wrath of Frogboy, his AI doesn't do very well in combats early on when my only "weapons" are my spells -
