I've got 64 bit XP and a boat load of expensive RAM waiting to do something, so I may try this band aid. EDIT- It should probably be mentioned to BACK UP your original exe before you replace it.

Isn't this like putting a band aid on a leaky tub? Or, er.. maybe putting a bucket to catch the leak from a tub. This doesn't remove the OOM it just gives you a longer play time until you run into one again, since the memory is still leaking.
Out of memory crash a good 270 turns in, it wasn't at the start of a turn but rather while I was demolishing buildings in a city I captured. Here's link to debug file. https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/debug.err?w=4c65efba Hope it works.

I tend to agree with you Raven, in that yeah we are pretty violent, violent animals. A haughty idea that we're anything but animals, if not worse than, though having principles helps, or just a good outlet. As for our soldiers.. it's not exactly an exclusive club that weeds out all the negative human traits. As patriotic as it might be to call them the best percentile of Americans, it isn't exactly true. The movie Full Metal Jacket is a pretty good example of the transformation from civilian
Quoting Scoutdog, reply 83As painful as it is for me to say this, you've actually brought me around to your position to some degree. You've explained something I had not considered previously, namely that the game will likely devolve into yet another kill-the-hajjis fragfest, albeit one where you can participate from the perspective of the hajjis being killed. I would find that rather objectionable, although as a hard-line first-amendment

At least what they farm is being more accurately represented, farming sand sounded about as derogatory as a 'kill-the-ragheads' shooter.

Paradox is devolving like Creative Assembly, Victoria 2 from what I hear is simplified, and at present has a game breaking bug in the release version that causes full scale revolts to explode across entire countries. If you play up to.. 1880 I think it was, you'll see dozens of countries just buried in rebels that never disappear locking the entire world in an anarcho liberal depression. Victoria 1 was complex but good, though with some interface problems. Europa Universalis was
If it's a matter of scale, consider this: 1,207 American soldiers have been killed in the nine-year war in Afghanistan. Around 42,000 people are killed by gun violence every single year. Thus, a lot more people stand the chance of being offended by a GTA than by an MoH that lets people play as Taliban. But GTA is still alive and kicking, apparantly well within the "gray area" of acceptable content.
Deaths to gun violence is a
I am thinking you misunderstood what I was saying. By all means I was not saying we should ban obvious games that could trigger some emotions like GTA, anymore than we should ban business Sims or city theme racing games. I am not a fan of anyone policing content in that fashion even if I choose not to play a certain genre because I find it distasteful. Actually out of the games mentioned, only GTA isn't my cup of tea. I can just see how

Do I find some actions parts of the gaming industry takes to make a buck, sure I do. There are a lot of people, dead and living, who are the victims of inner-city crime, and yet GTA is a huge, often controversial success, do we get rid of games like that as a result. Games are supposed to be light-hearted (for the most part) escapes from reality. Games based on conflicts are usually either fictional or based on long past history, to make a game with Taliban in it that shoot and kill coalition soldiers makes light of the fact that it's actually happening. We can make light of WW2, and every other war that ever came before it, but you probably wont see any WW2 veterans playing any such games (not entirely to do with their age, old as they are... only a few

Performance degradation to the point of a complete freeze, similar to what I'd get with 3c when a unit auto-exploring ran out of tiles to path to. Thinking of just completely uninstalling and downloading again to be sure nothing is mismatched. Had the odd hiccup after my 5 turn memory crash of the game seemingly reverting back to 3c, (old sovereign popped up). Can't offer anything reliable at this point.
