How do I convert captured enemy Level 1 Shrines to Level 2 shrines? My own shrines upgraded automatically when I researched the appropriate technology, but I can find no way to either upgrade captured enemy shrines or destroy them and rebuild them as friendly Level 2's.

I didn't get Elemental soon enough to qualify for the beta.
In Master of Magic having multiple participants act as a single unit was very important to considering that unit's overall potential strength. If there are 8 guys in a squad of pikemen all your upgrades to them count 8 times. If you used the same upgrade on a solitary figure, like a hero, the upgrade counted only once. It gave some balance between elite armies and regular armies with extra help. A rank of 4 rangers, a high-end range unit, could be gunned down by a squad of
Mine seems pretty stable. The campaign had a lot of glitches, as if it were designed for a previous version of the game and way too many changes to the game design made the campaign unstable, but the sandbox mode has only crashed on me once, and that was after running 3 hours straight. I've played many times since then without a crash or even odd behavior. (Excepting a couple of frustrating design flaws of the UI, but I've already delivered my opinion of that in another thread
Well ... I just got it and it isn't as good as Master of Magic but at least stacks of units that end their turns on the same tile don't get their orders cancelled like with AoW:SM. (I think one unit could actually get "hijacked" by another's move orders if they happened to end the turn in just the wrong way, but I haven't touched AoW:SM in years.) WoM has serious problems, don't get me wrong, just nothing quite that catastrophic. The main annoyance is that all unit
Holding down middle mouse button rotates map, which makes the occasional city zoom not reverting back to the original map rotation not a problem. Also this particular problem doesn't seem to happen during a normal game but during the first campaign mission. The disappearing unit picture (which gives the unit's current orders) also only seems to happen during the campaign. Lastly is there any way to find idle caravans? I right-click on some
What's "Ultimate"? Does it have all the GC2 expansions, and is it itself a further expansion? What does it cost to upgrade from vanilla DL to Ultimate, or do I not want to go that route?
Thanks for your replies. I'm still playing vanilla DL for now. I guess everyone else has moved on? I'm actually pretty good at manipulating components. It became easy once I figured out to put structural and positioning elements "inside" elements meant for visual consumption. I can do neat things like put engines partially inside the hull or have domed elements that merge smoothly and seamlessly with the hull. I just don't have a very art
Would anyone like to design a ship for me? It's called the "HMx" series; that stands for "Huge Missile Hull Template". In the series will be the "HMS", "HMPD", and "HMA" variants, each with their own version number to denote upgrades. I think the highest I've ever gone was the "HMPD 13". All huge ships that carry missiles will wear this design. It uses the first huge hull, the most slender one, with the two flat forward protrusions to either
Still playing Dreadlords, only it hasn't been that long. It's about time for me to try the next add-on, though.
Just take any old blues song from the 30's or 40's and change the words to this: Snarky the Squirrel, Snarky the Squirrel, Say hello to Snarky the Squirrel. Man's best friend, Ain't a dog, think again, It's Snarky the Snathi Squirrel, Amen! Snarky the squirrel found a lab one day, Up in the attic, that ol' squirrel loved to play, Snarky the squirrel, Snarky the squirrel, Say hello to Snarky
Thanks for a very detailed and comprehensive answer.

Umm, right, and to make an actual on-topic post for once in my career of comment-board infamy, "Independence War" and its sequel use Newtonian physics for the action and a little FTL hand-waving to get you from place to place quickly. All the important action happens in the Newtonian realm and without massive (unplayable) relative velocities. Everybody translates out of "LDS Drive" with the same relative velocity, so you're starting at zero relative every time you get within range
David Weber's "Honorverse" ships follow the known rules of physics, plus a little bit of hand-waving for the FTL without which it's almost impossible to write space-based science fiction. I would say that his portrayal of space combat is as "hard sci-fi" as possible in any setting which includes FTL. (The rest of his universe ... well ... two words: psychic cats. Meh.) Weber's mathematically lavish world of acceleration-derived velocities and velocity-derived intercepts ru
There appears to be a latency between messages posted from the "stardock" URL and their appearance here. The reverse doesn't seem to be the case: messages posted here seem to update there instantly. So it would seem I have to wait before I find out whether messages posted at the stardock site show the player records as messages posted from this URL do. I'm hoping this message will trigger a synchronization between the two servers so I don't have to wait to see the results of
And now the experiment, posted from the "stardock" URL:
Heh, I had turned "Default" on at some earlier point then turned it off again thinking I was turning it on. Viewing from the mirror forum at the Stardock URL caused the confusion -- not seeing medals there I assumed they must be turned off / not working, so I toggled the switch that was on back to off. My last remaining experiment is to post a message from the Stardock site and see if it (1) generates a post with game records attached and (2) disp
No joy. Well it was a good theory, anyway -- not flawed, just wrong. :P
Ok, I'm posting this following the "Metaverse" option from GCII into a web browser interface instead of going directly to the Stardock forums via URL. I can see other peoples' stats now (former top 25, 'Fratz? Pretty sweet!) so maybe mine will show up, too. Hah, I see another difference: I've been browsing the forums from the URL "forums.stardock.com". The GC2 "Metaverse" menu took me to "forums.galciv2.com". Betcha the mirrored forum on the star
I just re-loaded an earlier save and it didn't happen. No idea what caused it.
I'm running DL v1.53. There are a lot of things I'm not allowed to do when my credit balance falls below zero, and I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to buy ships when it falls below -500, either. In fact I'm in the worst position I've ever been in in my current game because I'm stuck in a corner with 3 species, 2 of which have superior diplomatic skill. I'm falling further and further behind because I can't buy techs without the positive credit balance to cover the check, an
Do you get a "cakewalk" medal if you create a character, set him/her/it as the default, then don't post any games under that character?
I would like for the "number of turns until completion" of social projects on the colony list to match the "number of turns until completion" on the colony dialog. Actually, to be more specific, I would like both to be accurate, which at least one of them is not or they wouldn't disagree with each other. I would like a "% full" or "population capacity remaining" column on the colony list. I would like to be able to sort by that column. <p
I noticed my game stats aren't appearing on my posts. How do I get my score to show?
