Off course - now I can't replicate it. I deleted the original shortcut file. I just tried to create a shortcut to another pdf file, and then copy the shortcut to the same folder as before. I then deleted the actual file. And now Fences does not crash. I will continue to keep an eye out.
The shortcut itself was pointing to a location on my home NAS, but the shortcut was saved to a dropbox folder that was a subfolder to a folder that placed on the desktop as a portal folder. Hope that helps.

If I add a shortcut to a folder and move that shortcut into a fences folder portal, the default behavior when I click on the folder shortcut, is to open the folder inside the fences folder portal. Sometimes, that is NOT what you want ... for that specific folder shortcut. It would be great if you could right-click on that shortcut and identify it as a standard shortcut that would open the folder in a file explorer window.
I am familiar with this solution from Chrome as well as a similar one for Edge. The problem here is that you get a shortcut to Chrome with some cryptic parameters and not a shortcut to the URL. That means you can't share the link with others, and you can't copy the link to your other computers, etc. Also, an issue if you have to upgrade your computer - i.e., a new laptop or complete OS refresh. This is more a suggestion than issue: Windows (for some weird reason) still doesn't support favicons. This means that when I drag a URL from my web-browser to my desktop, it will show the icon for my currently chosen default browser, and not the favicon from the actual website I am dragging it from.
