So, after losing an auto-resolve to a creature with 1/3rd my combat rating (8 to my 27), I thought the issue was with the auto-resolve. Then I fought a battle and lost in 2 rounds, without doing any damage, to a sovereign + 1 minion that, again, had a lower combat rating than me. It went something like this: my sovereign missed 2 spells in a row (no idea why). Then the enemy's minion cast a spell that damaged everyone; killing 2 of my 4 people and knocking the other two to

As I've been dealing with this (I wasted the better part of yesterday fighting with the alleged release version, which was at best a beta until the 1.05 patch, which came out well into the day the game was supposedly released and was still fairly broken), I still cannot fathom why release wasn't delayed. As disappointing as that would've been, my current experience has been far more disappointing, and I think my own view will be colored by this experience even if the issues are fixed.&n

I’m certain Stardock will fix Elemental. They may even keep working on it until it’s as good as their last game, Galactic Civilizations 2. But putting junk like this in a box and charging money for it is not okay, however rapidly you try and patch it afterwards. It punishes you for being a fan, it punishes you for buying on day one, it punishes you for pre-ordering, and it punishes you for having faith that a great company like Stardock wouldn’t ask you t

My two cents is that you should not buy it now, no. And before anyone else starts complaining, I own it myself. The AI still sucks, even after a patch that fixed it quite a bit. For example, the game I was playing this morning, an AI player declared war on me for no reason whatsoever (hadn't had any contact since the initial one), and then proceeded to do nothing. No attacks, nothing. Tactical battles are not well-implemented. I was expecting the level
if you only had 2 towns, you can't possibly imagine the scope of the army strength in the end game. as time goes on and more cities are built, the enemy hordes get larger with more hp and more attack/defense. you will stop building solo troops and start building stacks of companies, since your army can only have about 10-12 slots. 10-12 single troops in nothing compared to 10-12 companies of 16.
I'm glad that's
Today is release day and they were clear on what was going on and they did say that Sunday wasn't the release day. I think you should read the past threads from earlier this week before you make posts like this. I hope this helps.
They were not clear in the slightest. It was available for download on the day they said the final product would come out. What does Sunday have to do with anything? I didn't do
well that things happen when you buy games that should be marked as BETA...
Yeah, I hadn't realized that the game was a beta still on release day. Wish I'd known.
I've never seen Stardock employees complaining about us expecting a finished product.
The implication from the posts by Stardock in this thread is that I should've known I was playing a pre-release version. On launch day.

My main gripe is that they released an unfinished product on the day they said the game was coming out. If it wasn't ready, it shouldn't be on Impulse as the final product. Period. They themselves have admitted that what was released to the manufacturer was not ready ... why else would a 0-day patch be necessary? This is sadly endemic to the games industry these days: release it broken and patch it later. Now, that being said, I agree that it's very cool of the
The release date of Elemental has been August 24th for a long time. We released the game early to our pre-order customers and beta testers because several retailers broke the street date. Any version played prior to the 24th is, by definition, a pre-release version.
No...I downloaded the game on the morning of the 24th. I'm in the eastern U.S., same as y'all, so same time zone. I pre-ordered

So I'm wondering if my experience is unique or unusual. I haven't gotten to end game yet (wasn't in the beta, and only got about 2 hours in before it crashed), but I'm wondering if combat is ever supposed to be hard. Or if serious attacks against your cities are ever supposed to happen. With my sovereign as a magic user, I never came close to losing a tactical battle; 9 times out of 10 the enemies couldn't even get to within melee range (and those times they died before at

I'm actually encouraged, in a way. While I'm annoyed that the game came out without actually being ready, it at least means a lot of the issues people are talking about on here will hopefully be gone soon.
