I started a new game after hearing that 1.06 broke save games. My problem was that I'd mostly missed the experience and squad size buttons completely in playing around with the game. I assumed the buttons to create 4 guys was just a shorthand way to make more guys, not to make a squad of e-lite fighting men. Now that I'm using those, I'm doing far better -- I'm past the trolls already, and every fight has been a cake walk. Particularly once I started hasting my squad of 8.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it seems like the enemies I'm fighting in the campaign are much tougher than my line troops. I can build knights with great defenses, but they always start with 5 hit points. Specifically, the point at which I started having problems was the troll with the dragon. He could one-shot my knights, leaving my sovereign vulnerable. Once my sovereign dies, I go back to the city, rebuild, and kill him on the next try. And almost every fight after t
