From reading these AI threads, I come to think that may the "Ridiculous" AI setting is not supposed to the the Hardest, but rather "Ridiculous AI" LOL These AI do seem a bit ridiculous no?

If you absolutely loved AOW series then this is like that but on steroids... More fixin to do from SD but they seem committed to do the fixin so I give my most emphatic yes buy it and work through the UI learning curve that any game has and you will become addicted to EWoM too.

I still get OOM crashes on my Win7 64-bit box (4GB Ram) ATI4850(1GB) - so I concur witht he post above mine on the ATI comment, although not as often so they did fix some of the memory leaks but it is still leaking. 1.07 is much more enjoyable to play however. Keep on Trucking StarDock Work on that AI for those really elite players! maybe teaching the comp AI to band together against the likes of SARON sovereigns out there. lol :P

Yup to destroy enemy improvements I believe three conditions must be met: 1. having researched Fortification (I always do this now so not 100% its required for improvements but given you could not I think it is required because I can) 2. be at war with the opponent. 3. move onto the improvement so long as it is not part of the city. If the cases it is part of the city, Razing the town/city/settlement will destroy the impr

hehe... its called a beach! No amphibious landings on the cliffs... As far as I can tell there are only two kinds/types of shoreline, Beaches and Cliffs.

Use the SHOVEL in the build Queue then you need Fortification to be are to RAZE the whole she-bang or the last settlement... Razing Salts the earth, beforewarned! Also try reading the FAQs they answer a lot of these questions...
+ Turned on bounding box picking for tactical battles to improve the feel of unit selection. What does that mean?
I am hoping this mean you can now select the unit by placing the mouse cursor over the unit graphic and clicking rather than the ground the unit is standing on but it all depends on which bounding box they refer... Should be the units bounding box...Computer Graphic programmer jargon.

YAY!!! Various Memory Leaks fixed... The rest is Gravy!!! Mucho Kudos Stardock! [e digicons]:D[/e] Edit: I began testing this for you(SD) tonight and there are still more memory leaks, but overall much improved, they do not happen so often, and overall performance is much nicer mid-game! Still Two thumbs up for the improvement, keep up the good work!
With a login name like MageMatthew you can tell i would be all over the Mage in this game. But having started many games i can say for sure picking more than 2 books is really a waste of points. Since mana takes forever to regen and that having all those powerful spells are usless since you are forced to sit around getting mana back or to run around avoiding fights till you regen enough. What I think is cooler than questing is questing with a small band of champs while playing or orchastrating a larger strategy campaign against enemies. It really brings more depth to both...especially more so if there could be a way to tie the questing into having a larger impact on the campaign and maybe it does so already with the master quest, I just haven't gotten that deep into the quest tech tree yet...

It would be more diverse if SD when they revamp magic made the magic sphere/schools more focused... for instance, FIRE - 90% offensive , Attack damage no buffs by itself, but then if you pick up enhancement book then you get a Flame weapon buff that require both books to get access to. But lots of variety to Damage spells PBAOE, AOE, Walls of Flame that sweep away from the caster etc EARTH - 90% Defensive, does damage through being attacked, Erects Stone wa

If all went well then yesterday... hmm no patch... M'tinks all did not go well. Grateful they checked out as I'd hate for a patch that would regress to worse than where things stand today. I can start games and play to 200-300 or so turns then have to start a new game... as sad as it sounds its still entertaining... just not as entertaining as actually finishing one off.

MoM had an amazing amount of details (especially for its era) and allowed gamers to really get involved in the fantasy aspect (god knows the GPX sucked). That said, imho I think the gamer community is a majority of FPS, RTS and WOW gamers. I think the TBS gamers are a minority, and I not trying to pigeon hole anyone. I like most kinds of games but I've been jonsing for a Good TBS game for a while and while Total War series are good I think
Personally I don't like the fact you have to "research" to get better equipment in the shops. I would like it better if the shops got better stuff as the kingdom leveled. Makes more sense that way, IMO.
Research (R & D) is how the corporate Capitalists were able to sell you a better computer! ie. HW, Equipment.

Champion only needs to be inside one of your AOI(Area of Influence) spheres to use the merchant action icon. inside the city works but not necessary.

RTFM - Read the Faq Mister! [e digicons][/e] Research warfare to "Fortification" then you can RAZE your own settlements. Early in the game there is now way to do this that I know of.

If you research the magic tree then you do not need to select Enhancement book for your Sov, you'll get that in game just before you get combat, restoration and another book that slips my mind at present. As for the others it's a playstyle choice... Part RPG and Part strategic (Shard harvesting) at least thats how I'm looking at it.

One thing Ive been doing is IMBUEing all champions with INT >12 There Int will affect the damage dealt plus (maybe wrong here) it seems to affect the "To Hit" of spells too. My caster with 15 INT does way more damage and seems to hi more often than one I used with INT of 10. Another thing I do is pile all new casters with my Sov and run around levelling up the group fighting NPC's doing Quests and such (early thru early mid-game) If I get 6+/- casters plu my Sov thats a lot o

Memory leaks when they consume all the memory the OS can provide then the OS will Kill the app and the game crashes hard... no warning. The cannot finnish turn cannot end turn bug is a different beast entirely m'tinks! all elements of the game function for the given turn but for my own experiences the turn will not complete. I can open and use other screens options reports etc... just cannot end the turn... Not out of memory not a memory leaks.</
