Quoting Lord Cobol, reply 4 1Z5 is out. Came Mother's Day I think. Dev's don't have mothers -- they spontaneously generate from coffee mugs. Unless frogboy makes a dev journal about 1Z5 with change log and everything, I'll keep thinking that minor bug fixing patches are minor bug fixing patches.
We need a way to distinguish between point fixes. It's hard
Quoting TCores, reply 27 Thanks, that is assuring news. I am looking forward to the cool multiplayer mods. Warcraft had some cool ones like tower defense and dota, I am sure elemental will get silly and fun mods like these as well. It would be neat if one coul make an RTS mod out of Elemental, but I think we'll be stuck with a turn-based system. Sadly, no towerdefense. <br

That's okay. Is it a space limitation with the Gui, or is there something deeper behind it? If 800 * 600 was really important to people, I'm sure someone would mod a reduced UI and put the hours in to do that. I only noticed because Elemental pulls the screen size from my television for some wierd reason.

Er, the price for reference books are high because they take a long time to write, require extensive research, and have a tiny market. If only a hundred people in the world need (not want) your book on an exotic ARM microprocessor design, then it has nothing to do with "reselling." I have friends who work (as in owners) in construction and upon hearing that EA decided you're not allowed to resell your multiplayer CD key, they said maybe it's time people weren't able to buy used homes.

Elemental will completely freeze the entire computer if it is launched when a firewall that monitors outbound connections is up. ZoneAlarm is a firewall that does (and it's pretty popular, too) and normally when an unidentified program tries to access the internet from your machine, it pops up a little message saying "are you sure you want this program to access the internet." In most games, once you've tried to connect, you Alt-Tab, put the check mark in "don't ask again" and say "yes."

For those of us with the crappy notebooks, I'm noticing the current build of Elemental does some whining when I try to launch it at 800 * 600. Is this just for debugging, or have the low resolutions slipped off the development agenda? I'm cool with either. : )

https://forums.elementalgame.com/379072 Just out of curiosity, do you guys still have this bug? You're pulling the screensize from the wrong monitor and throwing up an error when the game tries to load.

Hello XeronX, I experienced basically the exact same thing with 1G. https://forums.elementalgame.com/377694 Which was a step by step breakdown of building a city in 1G. It's better now, but still things bother me about it. A lot of stuff was addressed in that thread (better visibility of what I needed to do, transition of the housing to cost Food, etc) but I still do not feel like I am getting the most out

What would be funny is EA executives being prevented from buying previously owned homes. "Sorry Sir, you have to buy a new home from the construction company. You're not allowed, you see, to buy a used home - that cuts into my profit margin, being a (land) development company. You'll just have to tear it down. Now now, don't get upset, it's just business and we need to take care of our profit margin. It was a might bit tricky, to get the law passed, but now it's passed and that's just
I wonder how Rome would have advanced without its experienced and veteran legions?
Two ways: 1) The same way Sparta advanced: by not having "green" troops at all. 2) The way Athens fought: use master strategists and geniuses. Out-maneuver them and incinerate their ships with the focused power of the sun, respectively.

Often said elite were drawn from the upper ranks of society. One perspective is that it is not that the Fallen units don't get "better" at what they do, it is that the Empire does not care. "The old ways are best. Anyone that becomes Great was always Great - they were born that way though we may not have realized it until just now."
Hm...so what do you have in mind TCores? How would this work exactly? The Empires would turn the bordering cities to their sides if the given Empire is mighty/powerful enough? What if an army is stationed in a specific border town? The army will have to fight vs. the rebels? Either way...not a bad idea actually...it reminds me of Civ4's culture system.
I don't really know enough about how Elemental will hand
Actually, copyright holders do have control over individual copies by law. This is the full purpose of Copyright Laws. If you carefully read the EULA of software, you will also notice that you are only granted a license to use the software, that it is in fact not regarded as a "copy" of the copyrighted material (since mastering produces "originals" not "copies"). You don't actually own the software, just the right to use it. Thus, you do not have

The community was fragmented by microexpansions. By the time of the last one, the community was split between four different versions of the game. New players coming in to test out multiplayer could find no one to play a game with: they left, and saw no reason to buy the microexpansions for online play since no one was playing online. Frequent "desyncs" lead to issues where a game would have to be completely abandoned and restarted. The lack of a solid tutorial (the one they had was n

A recent Dev Journal highlights the Empires as being about force and military might, with men/women who are born to destiny and greatness. I'd like to suggest that the Empires (and not the Kingdoms) be the best at Cultural Domination. That is, the neighboring kingdoms around them, those that aren't conquered by them, are subject to ruthless cultural indoctrination and expansionist politics that overwhelms their border cities, with the wea

I think the Empires could win by Domination. Not every empire needs to invade: some just use cultural domination to subjugate their neighbors. (Actually, this is pretty funny: it's hard to imagine France suddenly annexing the city of another nation because of their superior wines. It's pretty easy to imagine China doing it. Yet Civilization insists on exactly that.)
