" Yes I intend to test under Beta 2" - TanisGosu Although just like alway, I'll be spending the other half of my free time playing DF's new version!! Woot! Two extremely nice things to do...

I like the idea of Global Food as mentionned by Frogboy earlier, but I have different opinions on different ideas. I personally disagree with the idea of diminishing food percentage farther you are from the city that produces it. The main reason for my disgreement is that if my caravan is able to take 500kgs of wheat from city X to city Y which is 10 tiles away, than that caravan should be able to take that same amount of food to city Z which is 10 more tiles away, although it would take more
I would also like the idea that Sovereigns (and heroes?) have quotes that seem more "epic" compared to the ones of normal units. Quotes that reflect their status as leaders, legends, tacticians, etc. The traits of the sovereign could influence those quotes but not necessarily those of their units. Here are a few (from DragonLance): For a holy leader: "Until we conquer the evils within ourselves we can never conquer the great evil that threatens to engulf us!
I just thought it would be a good thing to point out that there are some problems with alt+tabbing. Personnally, and I think a lot of people do it too, I alt+tab all the time when playing games, for various reasons. Getting an unfair advantage for doing so seems... unfair [e digicons]X|[/e] . I also don't want to play in windowed mode, I didn't get a 17inch screen on my laptop for nothing [e digicons]:P[/e] .
The game was running fine in fullscreen mode. Then I alt+tabbed and opened it up again. The fog of war was almost all gone and although the picture unfortunatly does not show it, I could see the outskirts of a blue city through the FoW a little lower. Here is the picture: http://www.screencast.com/t/ZjFmMjhlZ I alt+tabbed again to save the screenshot and when I came back, the fog of war was back down there, but
I will probably be working long and late today and may not be able to be home before Friday's early morning. Will Stardock let us get into the beta even tomorrow or is it mandatory that we "register" today? I'm looking forward to testing and helping Stardock and I really do not want to miss this opportunity.
BTW, for those worried about the grind, why not take another page from MoM: troops gained experience just sitting in a garrison. 1 point per turn, no matter what. Fielding your troops would allow you to level them up much faster, but if you built up a sizeable army and just sat on it defensively, you weren't totally pooched in the late game.
Every game since MoM should have done that IMO. Troops garrisonning a city don
Personnally, I like the idea of the "World Quest", but it should be reserved to specific scenarios. I don't want an army of demons more powerful than everybody else randomly springing up in the middle of the game I set up to be a peaceful kingdom building experiment. Either you have specific scenarios in which you KNOW exactly what will happen, or maybe you can just check an option in the game set-up accepting random "World Quests" or not. The idea is nice though, just a little frustrating wh
I just want to comment on how people see the roads in Civ4, as my opinion differs greatly from the one I see in these posts. A lot of people seem to think that it is anormal to see roads on every single square in Civ4. I strongly disagree with this. The game is designed to show us each square as being a possible site for a city. Think about it, that means every square represents a LOT of "space" to build on. In our modern world, there is a road (and not a trail, btw) branching off highways ev
To me, it only seems like they are trying to make piracy even more attracive. Haven't they heard that No-CD cracks are VERY popular? Why you ask? Because it removes a little annoyance and a "law" you have to follow, which people hate. By doing that they are only adding an annoyance and not just a little one. On top of that they are forcing us to do something. People don't like to be forced to do ANYthing, even if it doesn't have any tangible consequence. But what they are forcing us to do can
I'm all for pushing back the beta for other (more) important announcements or upgrades to existing games, but if this goes on for another few weeks, stuff from beta 4 will be incorporated in beta 1G [e classic][/e] since you guys keep giving us lots of new info really fast in your dev journals [e digicons][/e] . Gratz on the ImpulseTV, I'm looking forward to check it out, see if it is better then just normal video reviews.
Another interesting scandal that is breaking is the fact that the AGW models ignore most other factors in their temperature analysis. In madagascar, they not only increase the temperature for UHI (when it indeed should be discounted), but they ignore the fact that deforestation cause an increase in temperature (totally ignoring it). By ignoring all other factors, they are trying to associate man with warming, when all they a
I was a fan of the first Majesty and the second one was good too, but I wish the campaign was longer. It isn't long before you complete the game and I don't think it was worth my 50$ (I bought it the day it came out). That deal was worth it though. I hope many people took the opportunity to be able to play a truly unique game for that low a price.
I realize there is a temptation to simply turn on the 3D engine. We just want to focus on the game being as ugly as humanly possible for as long as we can so that we can focus on making the game fun without relying on its graphics as a crutch. The 3D engine should enhance the fun but not be the ultimate source of it.
Well said. I totally agree, once we love the way the game is played, it will just be gratifying to
I see your point Netriak, but I must agree with AM_Shark. It does make gameplay more tactical if there is a limited numer of turns you can control the charmed creature. Especially if you have a 100% chance of charming it. Then you still have to wonder if you should charm it now or wait until a battle is close at hand, but then you might have to use other spells that would prove more useful. You can't go around charming everything and building defenses with everlasting monsters. That said, the
Banned for using twice the word "anti-" in a sentence.
I stand with most of the people here and I won't buy an Ipad. I'd either buy an ipod touch or a HP Slate instead, both are more useful. Anyways, books just look great on a shelf in my house... and I must admit I'm proud of making sure every one of them still looks as good as new even after I've read them a few times. I don't think eBooks would keep me coming for more.
Yeah, it's tough to wait! But once we get it we'll just be that much happier because we waited a long time for it.
