Read Frogboy's response in the Support forum. It was a design choice.
You're not the only one! See the "Maps not Random" discussion that was moved to the Elemental Support forum.
I think it should have stayed here.
I was generating these maps just for the fun of it. I am disappointed. The fun of truly exploring an unknown land won't be there.
I'm not clear on this. When I start a game with a large map, I get either one of the same two maps which have the exact same shape, same forests, same mountains. Are you saying that it's only the location of items within these maps that changes? That the seeds for the shape of the map, the locations of mountains and forests are fixed for game balance? I've generated these maps multiple times they appear exactly the same.
Unchecking Draw Grid doesn't work.
They weren't for me. In beta 4, I had the same two large maps every time. You can view the entire map with CTRL-U using the "cheat optiion" (elemental.exe cheat).
Looks as though there are a couple of pre-made maps for each map size. Assume that randomization will be forthcoming....
As mentioned by others earlier in this forum.... It's a more natural way of interfacing with the game. Another key should be used for opening the Options Window.
I'm assuming that you need to download Microsoft Intellipoint. This should install the Microsoft Mouse icon on your desktop. When you open the icon you get a Mouse Properties window. Under the picture of your mouse you have the option to change your Connected Device. I found that the Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 worked best for me. I also changed the Wheel Button to Middle-Click. This allows me to rotate the view.
I found that setting your "Connected Device" (within Mouse Properties) to Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 gives you a very smooth zoom and preserves the functionality of all your buttons. It works with Dragon Age too!
Possibly a drivers issue. Same problem (no scroll) in Dragon Age Origins, Windows 7 Ultimate. Standard mouse works fine.
This mouse scrolls normally running Elemental in Windows XP but not in Windows 7 Ultimate. Matched the Elemental and Intellipoint settings between systems, but to no effect.
MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, same problem. barely zooms in or out with multiple spins of the wheel. Works fine with standard mouse.
I was getting a CTD every time I tried to play the game. Now it works fine. Create a shortcut on your desktop and under "Properties" add /w on the Target line (after the last quote). This runs the game in a window.
OK guys, I got it to work! I created a shortcut to Elemental on my desktop and under "Properties" I added /w at the end of the Target line (after the last quote). This opens the game in a window. Good luck!
Yes, same problem here. Crashes when I select "New Game" or "Options". Windows XP.
I have the exact same problem!
