My simple response to finneglot. Being an administrator isn't fun, being a hero that pushes his country with his belly IS fun.
I don't see how adding general bonuses to your nation based on your character sheet, while still being a Hero is not fun. Nevertheless, if it is game over if your ruler dies, then I believe you would like to keep your Channeler safe, wouldn't you? While he is safe inside

Hm, I still think adding any kind of genetics would be too complicated to the game. This can become a game on itself, screening magically the King and Queen to see all their traits, then play them out to see the chances of breeding a children with characteristics X, Y and Z - or better, choosing the right sperm and ovule to give the right characteristics. Ah, you might also need to screen all the wanna-be Kings or Queens pretenders to see if they are fit and then play out how the crossing wou
Is the only difference between the star system and the trait system that the star system allows for gradations? Also, if I haven't made this point to you before, your writing is impenetrable.
Not exactly. The trait system so far adds more flavor and pinpointed applications, nothing else. Star is more fixed a system and would grant global attributes to governance - a whole pack of goodies. One star in military for
Quoting Finneglot, reply 7Interesting, yet this fails in one important point: general governance. Your channeler is the king/emperor, therefore he must have general administrative/diplomatic/military skills showing how good he is at managing three important aspects of his nation. Again, I'm ripping Europa Universalis III off, but I think its star system can be used as a base for Elemental. Each star can add general bonuses related-to-area to your nat
Hm, eugenics by definition is only possible once you know genetics. If you don't, you are just following a gut instinct. Now, it is rather difficult to breed humans to reach a particular trait - we have long gestation periods and even longer time to reach adulthood. Not to mention you need a large population to see the results of your crossings, therefore it is unlikely to see substantial gains if you only cross King with Queen, Prince with Princess. Furthermore, many human traits aren't exac
Just one important reminder about succession : channelers are supposed to be rare, and nothing in the backstory tell us that their children get the same gift/ability/power. Moreover, as they are the only able to heal the land, no real faction can expect to compete if its leader is not a channeler. From that, we have a reason to ignore the first son/daughter of the previous leader (his/her father was a channeler, not him/h
I agree with Nathaniel that it is a bit off. The throne should only be inherited if there is no children capable of holding it. The right order would be: if the King of Kraxis dies leaving no male heirs and you happen to be married with one of his daughters, then you have the right to claim the throne and eventually inherit it. I see no reason for you inheriting the throne of Kraxis if your King's son is married to one of his daughters. If anything, Kraxis will get a new King who happens to b
One thing that should be addressed in this topic also is who makes the magic items and under which circumstances! In my humble opinion, the making of simple magic items should be governed by your resources, general magic availability and its social penetration. Magic-dependent societies could forge magic items without much effort - and based on inherent characteristics of some enchantments, you could somewhat order a few hundred Swords of Lesser Doom to equip your heroes if resources
Krouv has a valid point. Pay heed to him. Now, about the Standard Royal Army idea. I admit it is truly an endearing concept explained this way as it offers greater organization and easy-to-follow leads to the player. Yet, this does not completely invalidate the concept of unit design. How come? Explain I must, padawan. See, by creating units you are already assigning status to them, based on the model and weapons/armors. Models and weapons add to the status complexity if you have enou
Thank you, schoolmarm Zigzag. Alas, I must learn to become less of a sesquipedalian if I'm to communicate in here. Shame, I am fond of my floundering writing.
Indeed lwarmonger, modding is also essential for creating diversity. Stardock could give us the basics and a little flavor, but by allowing us to create our own systems of organizations and how they interact with the world will create a great deal of variety. I dream - figuratively, of course - of a structure that permits me to establish my Organizations tree, what kind of conditions certain types of cults or associations will be created, and most importantly, how will they develop under cert
Hm, I didn't particularly mention religion because I thought the matter was a no-brainer. I cannot possibly imagine how could anyone be offended by a game that creates random or not-so-random religions - after all, it happens in the real world all the time. People that could get offended by this are the same that complain about the immorality of the Internet or television: chances are they won't be part of your play-base no matter what. With that said, religions could be empowered ver
Dear fellows, I am quite aware it is terribly rude to offer a suggestion without a proper introduction, therefore I must humbly ask your forgiveness for my hastiness. Suffice to say for now I greatly appreciate Stardock diligence and competence in making games and as result I keep a close eye on its projects. This one, of course, caught my interest and for this reason I'm submitting one particular idea that was partially discussed <a title="discussed" href="https://foru
