I like your ideal Raven x, it reminds me of the old Sword of Aaragon days where the battles were fought out on large maps. From memory if you improved your city's defences and infrastructor you would see the results on the tactical map with stronger defences and a denser/larger city. But I think it's too early to really get an idea of what kind of scale tactical battles are going to be fought in at this stage of the game. I mean at the moment just training a single person (unit?) to garrison

Just on the research screen could we be given the ability queue research projects? and if that is possible could we then be able to see the queue order from the existing screen?

Well I have no problems with fixed teleportation like portals/gates between 2 or more points, since its the same for everyone. I could see how something like a teleportation spell might be overpowered if you can choose the desination and gate in an entire army ontop of a city for example, but then again you can put a Volcano on a city which is probably going to be just as bad for it anyways. Basically if the game gives you a counter for a spell like teleport then I'd have no problem with it b
I especially like the idea of a research bonus for terrain/resources which makes a lot of sense with you think about how armies/technology developed around these sorts of things. Likewise I like the idea of getting a bonus for getting a tech first, but I don’t really want to see it for every tech. I really like how Civ did it, by giving you
The economic model isn't even in the game yet so I wouldn't worry about that side of the game until it comes in. Yeah I agree about the monsters, I'm not even sure if you can catch them, if you right click it just seems to follow them rather than catch them. Thou that might just be coincidence because the times that I've done it I've had the same speed as the critter. At the moment its much easier to just manaully move after them.
I'd always assumed that we'd be getting more tile types as the beta progressed so it's good to see others are thinking the same thing. I really like Strand concept of the building type governing the effect that you'll get from that tile rather than just the square peg, square hole we have now.
Long time lurker, in for the long haul after pre-ordering yesterday.
