Maybe you just need a better starting location :-) Tbh i dont think you can compete with insane AI bonuses. Even if you focus 100% on empire building you will fall behind. You can be 1st in population or 1st in research production but your empire will never be as effecient as AI empire (due to huge gildar/research/production/growth bonuses)
Seems like summons have become pretty useless--but has anyone else felt and done differently?
Actually it is the opposite. Summoner is very strong in early game and it is viable choice for insane/insane game. Do you need better recommendation than that ? Please keep in mind that wisp and lightbringer are (at the moment) superior to skeletons.

Respect for quest victory at insane [e digicons][/e] Insane by definition requires exploiting AI or game weaknesses and im kinda happy both options are viable. If you play for score you definitely dont want to focus on resarch or army because it take way too much time. I would rather suggest dodge combo spearmans and / or summoner with 0 upkeep special item. You will be able to kill AI in early game and end before turn 100.&nbsp

Yesterday i've completed my first LH insane game as 'undepowered' summoner. I'll focus only on major things AI doesnt know how to play this game in tactical battles. Battle of wesnoth and unity of command are best example that good AI playing on a small hex map can be done even by a small team. Both are great games precisely because AI is better than average player ! AI buffs to stats / production rate can make game difficult but it does

Weak enemy without resources is willing to pay a small fortune for any resources you might have. I've uploaded a nice 20k gold deal. Btw Do AI really need unlimited amount of gold ? http://imageshack.us/f/845/goldexploit2.png/ http://imageshack.us/f/545/goldexploit.png/

My idea is quite simple (maybe too simple :-)) Enrage ability Each time unit was hit (one or more times) without being able to retaliate it would get enrage stack. Stacks could increase movement or initiative. Melee units could prevent other melee units from gaining stacks by engaging them in hand to hand combat. If unit can attack other units in its turn (enemy unit is in range) it cant get enrage stack. You get it only if someone is shootin

You don't want units to have different movement values precisely because we don't have simultaneous attacks. Bone troll (60+ attack, low initiative, low defence, high hp) is dangerous enemy because most units have only 2 movement. If your units move at speed 3 or more and your initiative is 10+ then you can avoid troll attacks. You won't ever get hit when you have movement/initiative advantage and when you know that you can kill that troll without ever beaing hit you will start ru

Half buildtime ? Are you serious ? :-) Ridiculous AI produce things instantly. It is not even close to 50% at highest level :-) . If current 1000% boost to economy is not enough then even if you change it to 999999999% it wont make any difference. You would need better AI.

Hello I've been testing Fallen Enchantress for a few days now. In my opinion it is already better than original Elemental but still not as polished as moo2 or as fun as moo. Some thoughts after 15-20h of playing First bad side 1. Game crashes too often. When i create cutom race / avatar / new units it is almost fity fity. I actually have to save game before creating new units to be sure i wont lost turns if i crash ;-) 2. Magical items are too expen
