on heroes of might and magic they had an in game month cycle... so events could be triggered on a calendar basis. this could be dynamic to some extent do a city could celebrate (or riot) on a staple date that represents the time it was conquered last or whatever.

I would susspect that sea dragons live only in the deepest oceans and come to the surface rarely serpents then more common. would be nice to be able to stealthly transport across the sea on a sea dragon. recruiting a sea dragon gota be tricky business!
