Straight to the point: Once it was decided that WoM would not be MoM 2.0, the decision of a not a 4X turn based fantasy strategy game is what hocked me in. While lots of people seem to be talking a lot about dynasties that was by no means what I expected to make WoM unique. In fact I was feed up from dynasties from paradox crusar kings.... The deadland setting and the ever hard choice to spend essence to revive it or share

Since a broken foot has allowed me lots and lots of gameplay time, I decided to give some more extensive feedback (something I couldn’t do since the early FE beta). First the compliments on great job everyone at stardock is doing, as one of the early buyers of WOM I’ve seen the long way the has come. I won’t be listing everything I like, since it would fill pages and pages. I also won’t go bug checking, since every time I took the time to write a bug re

The point with MoM is that it was fun, even with a nonexisting AI. There were so many ways to build your wizard, so many cool spells, that it was simply fun, even though it was not challenging. I would ussualy deliberetly handicap myself, just to prolong the game and try to win in a given fashion, instead of adopting the most strait way to victory (paladins, paladins, paladins) Sometimes I would play a warlord (no magic, no champs), sometimes a summoner (always a favorite for me), som

If the suggestion involves getting rid of some basic game feature like technology trees or mana then yes, you're wasting your time.
Well, since I´m with a pretty bad insomnia, I´ve decided to read a l

My last suggestion for now is redoing the paths and traits, they are uninspired, unbalance and full of useless or overpowered traits. I particularly dislike how there are 3 might paths and only one magic one. I´ve been thinking about the following: 1) Choose a basic path right on sovereign creation. Every champion already starts with a basic path 2) Latter on, (maybe around lvl 5) choose a specialization. 3)Waaaay later (lvl 15-20) give another shot at a path or

Rebalance combat. One hit one kill. The flanked condition. The overpower trait. The rock paper scissor approach. I´ve suggest somewhere else already a one hit one kill rule. Many seens to have liked the idea, while others worried that it would change too much of how combat works or nerf too much the champs. I´ve given a little bit more of thought on the idea and considered all the comments. See what you guys think: First and foremost: eliminate or mi

Work and study duties here on this side of the screen will prevent me from playing the beta or offering any feedback until de middle of march. I don´t know how much the game will have gone down the gold path, so I´ll just spill out all my impressions and suggestions and hope I can help make elemental the classic it deserves. Especially considering everything you guys have said so far! *The game still feels numb…. FE was a HUGE improvem
Summary 1. AI sucks so you can kill it with pretty much magic or melee champions or units or pretty much any tactic. Cos the AI sucks, *every* tactic looks overpowered and you can just focus on 1 or 2 things... Btw this is true of almost every strategy game, it always makes more sense to specialize in one thing..and ignore the rest.. 2.Magic seems to be quite weak earlier but mid-level (with right traits + items) or late in th

I hope the above example helps people (and the devs) to understand my point. When I say that magic and armies are weak and melee champions and sovs are overpowerd I´m not simply talking about spell damage, armies hit points and the like. I´m talking about the general balance of the game. A “pure mage” sov could not single handily defeat an entire faction so powerful this way. You would eventually run out of mana or hit points, even if you

But what really concerns me is not making magic more damaging or powerful, but making melee based sov and champs less opverpowered. I will post some screenshots to illustrated what I´m talking about. I´m my first game in 0.77 the improvements of the AI are noteworthy (kudos for Brad). While playing in ridiculus difficulty for the world (I like badass monsters) and challenging for the AI (I like to see the best of it without cheating), Altar was able to vanquish thr

That´s what I´m talking about! Ideas to bring more balance. When I say that magic is underpowered, I´m not ignoring the value it have as support/buffs and the abuse of some strategic spells. Of course what is overpowered or “abusable” in magic should be toned down. I just fell that in a game that magic is the central theme, it should have more “raw power” early on the game. A spellcaster in the opposing army should always be some

I´d say it still count as a bug, since it prevents any player from completing the wildland. Either the “city spot” should be moved to a point where it is impossible to build in the minimum distance, or an exception to the minimum distance should be added.

Obscuring fog benefits from air and water shards, but requires no rank in any magic school, so it can be cast by the sov or any imbued champion. I guess it should require at least disciple rank in both water and air, as a way to balance it, since it is one of the best spells right now…

6 Replies 2,986 Views

By the way, the only reason we can have dozens of shards is the weak AI (and the low level of monster aggression, which allows you to have undefended outposts on the other side of the world). When the AI improves it won´t be so easy hoarding shards, or so I expect…. On a large map, with all the players, I usually have 3 to 5 shards before the map is full, the AI players are in a similar or worse situation (I like to let the AI build up before start attacking it, in some g

When I say “win the game” I´m not referring to just beating the AI. That’s currently easy enough, regardless of difficulty level or strategy chosen (magic or might sov/champs or regular troops). Since we are in beta and the AI is almost nonexistent, every time I play I disable victory conditions and try to beat every AI player, quest, wildland and wandering monsters, with varied strategies. This way I can experience the game as whole and try to help mak

Even if the sovereign didn´t leave his stronghold (like MoM) we would still have the problem of the uber champions. Since we mentioned MoM, there was this same problem, of your champions reached a certain levels and with the right buff and equips, regular (or even fantastic) troops became obsolete. I remember kicking the ass of half a dozen ski dragons on a sorcery nod with my “Torin the Chosen” (who remembers that guy? xD ) without losing a single hit

Having played the game for some time now, I must say that I´m very confident that FE will be all that WoM was not. Everything seems to be going the right way. With time the bugs will be solved and the game will gain even more content but my real concern is with a two key aspect of the game: MAGIC and CHAMPIONS Champions are far too overpowered, I can win a game on maximum difficulty without ever building a single army. The sov and the champs can do all the work alone.</p

The sunder spell appears to be broken on tactical combat (it deals no damage to elementals, even with a lvl 20 sovereing). Maybe they are resisting or their damage immunity is working i suppose this is not the intended) On the other hand, it´s surely broken on auto resolve: it is used against all kinds of enemies and does insanely high damages.

Well, I´m having that kind of problem too. Not only when I save/reload without exiting the game, but in the mid to late games I got crashes out of the blue, when I´m playing a regular turn, without any saving/reload. So far, I haven´t been able to finish a single game...... I´ve noticed the crashes occours when memory consuption gets close to 5gb (I got 8gb in a 64bit win7) I have just emailed ab

I guess the kind and amount of bonuses would only be defined later in the beta, like other balance issues. But we must first convince SD to actually put the social feature in the game. Anyone knows if the developers still check this

@ Nathikal I have totally forgotten the diplomatic aspect! Well remembered! Frogboy has stated that diplomacy will be something special, we told we will get none of those “Sorry but I have to destroy you” when everything was fine between the player and the A.I.
