The question people should be asking is ... Why do reviewers judge a game when it comes out? I believe many of these people believe that a game should be nearly complete when it comes out.
Stardock themselves say that all gamers have the /right/ to demand a game be released in a finished state. Brad himself wrote this handy list see, of what he believes Games should be: <a href="http://gamersbillofrights.or

I haven't had this problem myself, although one audio issue that did occur is that a few hundred turns in the audio stopped playing at all.
It is not a GREAT idea to travel with your spouse until your children are born unless you're really confident of your army's abilities. At this stage you cannot replace a dead spouse (Please, please think of amending that, Stardock)
A lot of the hardcore fans here seem to be giving these reviewers a harder time than they've earned; all of them that I've seen so far have been INCREDIBLY patient with the crashes and such, mostly because of Stardock's reputation and previous championship of the customer. It seems like they're actually going out of their way to be more lenient on this game because it's Stardock and because the game concept is so solid, that they are amending their normal reviewing processes - most games will
It's a fun game but it really, really needs work. I'd wait for a sale but keep checking in regularly to see how the patching goes. At this point I can't personally finish a game to victory due to crashing on the latest patch. But I keep going back and trying so there's something to be said for that.
Snark, if you're saying the game is stable you are a rare lucky one. Everyone I know has been crashing regularly and having steady decreases in performance. I have yet to finish a random game without a crash to desktop and I'm on 1.06.
Yah, not Large Address Aware in this day and age is horrid choice. It actually caused many of the Fallout 3 stability and performance issues by it's absensce...
Deslock and Mahood are there again, Mtn_Man, doing their old columns [e digicons]:D[/e]
If you're going with the whole wall building analogy, most contractors don't get paid until the wall is finished [e digicons][/e]
People are allowed to criticize a game they like but think needs work Jharii, frankly Stardock does not need wild unquestioning fanboys as much as they need people willign to be honest.
Good stuff but your yellow and white backgrounds are hurting both my eyes and my soul.
It'd be cool if PC Gamer had the balls to issue a retraction now that most of the major issues have been patched.
Retract what? They said: we're not reviewing the game until it's in a better state. It's still not fully playable for many people I know even with 1.06 - slowdowns, crashes, and even bizarre unheard of DirectX failures that require a restart are still in. We're weeks from it being in a state w
Disappointed for now, looking forward to patches - in a few months I can see this being a great game. As is every game I play through ends in an Out of Memory error..
I've been getting a bit more enjoyment out of the game now that Day-0 patch is out (what with the less crashing and coherent interface). However, one thing that's really really bugging me: if by some random chance my spouse gets killed there is nothing else to be done, forever, your dynasty is simply over. You can either restart or just hope your Sovereign is immortal I guess but I'm not really putting much stake in that idea :P So my first non-bitter comment here: Divorce/remarriage

Personally, frogboy, I'd be weary of saying "people can [] detract to their hearts content." in reference to something you've got to moderate. Because some hearts require a lot to be content.
Don't worry, he doesn't really mean it - the forum mods have been whitewashing very actively and deleting man
Quoting VR_IronMana, reply 83 Quoting rossanderson48, reply 72 I'm playing on pretty much the same with an ATI 5770 card so I should be having issues every 5 minutes but have only had 1 going on 3 days now. I think a lot of gamers blame the game for computer issues they have. Or they buy crappy DELL or HP machines and expect them to be as good as an Alien or Ibuypower one. ) Hey
I wonder, what ever happened to the Gamers Bill of Rights that Brad proposed years ago. One particular part I feel is completely, one hundred percent ignored here and that makes me lose a LOT of respect for them: Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state. This game is not finished, it lacks a tutorial, the campaign is a puny pitiful sub-5-hours-mess, performance issues and bugs are everywhere, and worst of all, it seems lik
