Quoting gamecat_uk, reply 5My GF... No offense, but she sounds petty. "Why does the game do X instead of Y?" really isn't a valid criticism if there's no good reason why it shouldn't do X.
I think her point it that why does the game not engage me (x) when it should (y)? Thats her reasons why. Hardly petty. I wish the fanboys would admit that at this moment the game needs some serious work. I'll be the firs
Quoting Star Adder, reply 7EACH and EVERY game is being reviewed upon it's release day version! *shakeshead* I think that what Mtn_Man meant is that Elemental is an unusually complex game and, specially in light of the lacking or absent documentation, requires more time to fully discover and explore than reviewers are usually willing or able to invest into a game. Many users who review also compose their comments or articles after a few minu

At the moment I must admit, its not the bugs or the awkward UI that's causing me problems its aspects of the game itself. Apart from annoyances like overpowered guardians which should really be used to guard your territory not tear up your opponents (this should be fixed). I'm finding the sluggish control, awkward interface, muddy graphics, uninteresting replication of building types, generic units, rather poor borderlands type graphics all are getting me down. My GF loves Strat/RPG a

I like informed opinion rather than just "THAT GAMES CRAP COS I SAY SO". I never said MOM is crap or rubbish is any way, I just said I found it "paled" compared to AOW:SM. MOM is a fine game for its time. AOW:SM AI'S could actually use pioneer units perfectly well. AOW:SM AI's built cities all over the place, really.. you should give it a try especially with with all the patches. In AOW:SM the city placement was more in realtion to Nodes than anything else. There wasn'

As you can see the MP "I'm better than anyone" crowd is trying to movein on this game. Cmon seriously.. are you that offended by people who want to see a good MP come out of this game as well? Hey psycho, try comparing the features of both of the games and you'll see that AOW:SM is far more advanced and I think satisfying overall. MOM is a great game but an example of what you are doing is this: I t

What I meant wasn't that AOW:SM didn't have small maps it was that it didnt have massive maps that you could explore and delve into more before conflict really kicked off. Thats what I'm hoping Elemental will have. Yeah the patches and mods did help signficantly. I agree about tactical battles in fact I've been posting about alternatives here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390935

In Aow:SM you could watch other tactical battles (although I thought this was kind of cheating at least it kept waiting players a bit entertained). I have a number of ideas that could create better flow for players. 1. Limit rush turn taking tactics so players that make their moves quickly dont get an advantage. (As in attacking a city first before another player). 2. Make tactical battles fun for other players either by 1 letting them watch or 2 by allowing the
Well I don't judge the game by the ai competency alone I also take into account the difficulties and how hard it is to beat and how fast. MOM was just better overall in every respect vs AOW. I add how the ai plays plus the difficulty and how hard it is to beat the GAME not just the ai. MOM once again was just better overall in every respect vs AOW. The only thing really AOW has over MOM is graphics and that's not even that great. Plus more ai o

Yeah, I totally agree. I really hope they allow for a 'fuller' mp experience as a quick skirmish isn't really what I want, please don't dumb down the MP!!!! thats why I am buying it. Co-op or longer style of playing with friends for me would be great. I did hear about perpertual servers, did this mean there is the chance of a perpetual world server setup so people can hop in and play then hop off. Obviously this might mean your kingdom gets wrecked while your away but im sure there are ways t
AoW:SM may have been a nice MP game, but it's SP play was just terrible. Boring, not difficult, repetitive... The AI was just completely unable to provide any kind of a challenge once the player got past the initial learning curve (which wasn't that steep in the first place). Dom3 is by far a superior game, though again, MP only if you want a challenge.[/quo

Thanks for all the replies and information. For people who didn't play much of AOW: Shadow Magic (Not Just AOW, there is a big difference) I just wanted to correct a few assumptions. 1. Killing the wizard did not end the game. It stopped you using the wizard for a period of time before he/she re-spawned. Without the availability of global spells this could be a real pain but would not end the game. (unless it was specified in setup of a custom map) 2. AOW:Shadow Magic

I just wanted to say that after stumbling accross EWOM I am extremely excited about the game, that, at last there is a nice fantasy/rpg/strat/turnbased/4x experience with good multiplayer support coming out. My favorite fantasy 4x game has been AOW:Shadow Magic, which I still consider one of the most technically perfected fantasy 4x's ever made and which this game seems very similar to (which is a great thing). Having read and watched a lot of the videos and info about the gam
