[quote who="cephalo" reply="7" id="2871684"] quoting postHey all, Is there any drawbacks or bugs associated with that map generator? I read something about quests and monsters not working correctly? Can I place individual resources on map tiles in that map generator? I haven't heard anything about that. Has Stardock or the devs said anything about improving the random map generator or incorporating ElemenTerra in their next big update or the expansion?
Hey all, I'm getting rather frustrated with the seed maps that I use every time I start new game at the world creation screen. I must have started like 200 new games today to find ideal resource placement not just for me but for the AI enemies too. I want everyone to have good starting positions, room to expand, and be much more competitive. In most of the maps I generated at the game start up, I use the "control + U" cheat to reveal the map to check if the resources ar
I'll check in the next game I play. I don't have any mods installed that I'm aware of. I'll give you more info as I play through and keep track of dates + turns. I play on "Epic" settings since it seems like the Civ series "Marathon" mode with slower tech research but more time to move around the map. Or is the Epic setting in Elemental different? I haven't played on Fast or Normal yet so I can't really compare. In one of my other threads, I stated that there REALLY nee
10 - 13 year olds still look small and childish, while late teens (16 - 18) look like adults. Besides in the US, 16 year olds can get driver licenses. Getting off topic here. Anyways, I just thought it was weird to see my dynasty children still babies after 50 years. Also I noticed their birth year keeps moving up year-by-year after a certain point. Ditto for sovereigns, spouses, and heroes. When I start the game, it says my sovereign birth date is 130-something AC. The
I haven't really noticed any major differences with a couple points + / - of accuracy in my games up to this point. I'll have to check out the accuracy boosting items and stack all the + accuracy ones and see what happens.
Thanks for your input on the Empire / Kingdom stuff. I didn't realize that slums weren't an upgrade from houses. I thought since both factions have 3 kinds of houses and that they upgrade. My mistake. Point taken about the weapon dodge / accuracy. However, I haven't seen any major impact if I increased dodge / accuracy a couple points with magical artifacts in unit creation. They perform just as well as they do without the +1 or +2 accuracy and do
Hey all. Yep, more questions from me. I've been playing Kingdom factions, and I thought I'd check out the Empire factions so I started a game as one. I looked at the tech tree to see what the Empires can build. The Empire stuff seems overpowered compared to Kingdoms. 1. Houses. The Empire houses hold more population, and the 3rd level houses- Slums, is equalivent to TWO Kingdom Villas (same house level). The Slums eat 2 food each, whereas the Vill
Two of these threads refer to AI difficulty levels, which is something I already am aware about. I know what the AI difficulty levels do. I'm looking for the other difficulty setting- more specifically the world difficulty level. One of these threads said that it effects monster levels and "minor stuff", but I need more information. Do monsters on Ridiculous level give more experience than monsters on Novice to scale up with higher stats, or are their experience payouts
Umm, the search isn't working for me, and I don't want to go through dozens of pages worth of posts, thread by thread to find my answer. There should have been a tooltip or something in-game that explains exactly what bonuses / penalties that player difficulty levels gives. Some critical options like these currently have no tooltips or pop ups so we're shooting in the dark here.
Hey all, Its me again with yet another question. I'm curious about the player difficulty levels at the game start up menu. Novice through Challenging. I'm not talking about the individual AI difficulty levels, but the difficulty level for you, the player. That slider is to the right of the "World Size" chooser in the first world start up screen. What bonuses / penalties do these difficulty levels do for you? More expensive tech? Smarter AI (in com
Hey all, I was wondering if its a bug or if I'm doing it wrong. In my current game, my custom sovereign married a female hero and started a dynasty. After like 10 years, they had 4 children born. Then things get weird. The children are NEVER growing up. They stay as a "baby" picture for like 40 - 50 years now (150 - 200 turns). Why are they staying babies for that long? How do I turn them into adults?
Gotcha. I'm just concerned that there might not be enough food resources though. Even with the "Garden" for Kingdoms and "Fungus Storage" for Empire, these +2 food structures, plus 1 extra food from using both granaries and irrigation system together (50% bonus), it still isn't enough to make many level 5 cities. If food resources give more food, or the gardens are boosted in food output then this probably won't be an issue with me anymore. I like building large cities. Feels more epic that w
Some good points here. However, I feel that there should be a slight change in resource spawning. Instead of 1 resource spawn within your whole territory per tech, there should be new resources popping up at random in your territory AFTER you research the tech. For example, your miners find the first new Ventri mine in your territory using the newly discovered exploration tech. Then, say, 50 or 100 seasons later, another group of miners finds a new vein of Ventri elsewh
I'm going to test this. I'm going to do two games (one actually). I'll save at like 5 cities and then research Exploration til the end and see how many resources pop up. Then I'll revert to the save prior to the research, then build 30 cities and then see if it makes any difference. If new resources are limited to one-time-only-at-discovery spawn only within your territory, that needs to be changed. It should be like Civ, where you discover a new tech that reveals resources but it rev
Thanks for the replies. Now, if I build new cities and then expand my territory, will more of these resources pop up in the new territory + cities once the territory covers the spawning tiles, or is this an one-time-only event that's only limited to my existing cities and territory at the moment of discovery?
Hey all, I had a quick question. I know researching "Exploration" tech's will reveal more resources, like food, ores, crystals, etc. However, I need to know a couple of things. 1. If I research the tech with a small empire, will the resources spawn only within my borders, or will they be revealed all over the map? 2. If they only spawn within my borders, do they pop up whenever I claim new cities and my borders expand, or do I get the best
Hey all, Thanks for helping me out in my earlier thread. Now I'm ready to start a serious game of Elemental. Reading up a bit on these forums, I learned that custom Sov's are much better for gameplay than the pre-set ones. Now I'm curious to know what effects patch 1.1 has on the custom Sov's compared to vanilla 1.0? I know getting the spell books would be nice. But what about the 6 primary stats (strength, intelligence, etc.) and strengths / weaknesses, race
Thanks guys, I appreciate you getting back to me and saving me from a "uh oh" moment. To clarify, if I just generate random world name, select Large map, and check the Epic, Minors, and Monsters boxes, then will the map be a flat grassland, or will it have random lakes, rivers, oceans, islands, etc? Just totally random map stuff? I'll check out the map generator. Does it work with version 1.1, or are there compatibility issues?
Hey all, I just got Limited Edition version of Elemental. I got the box and the download option from Stardock, using the special weekend buy option a couple weeks ago just after X-mas. I finally got around to installing and giving the game a try. I patched the game to 1.11. I ran into a couple weird issues. I went to "New Game" since I want to try to learn the ropes of the game, plus I love epic and huge games like
