Demigod bandwidth online in Demigod Stardock Forums

Hi everyone I live in South Africa and have purchased Demigod today :) It was released here 2 days ago. I have a 324kbps adsl line. I was wondering if there is anyway I could speed up the connection speed when I play Demigod online(besides upgrading my line)? I understand that games are not hosted on a server but rather shared by the people playing(not sure how that works). I have played my first game online today and it lagged quite a bit. It was a 2v2.
