It looks like skills are "spells" and if you want a unit to only be able to use it a few times you make it cost "mana". I am curious what the work around is for a skill that you don't want to take away from the mana pool, but only be able to be used like 4 times. For example I have a spider mage who can cast spells, but also want him to be able to shoot a web without effecting how many times he can cast spells, but he can only use web 3 times.

People are working on an open source spin off of MOO2 called freeorion, it looks promising, but man are they slow at developing content.
So I have been playing beta 3 and something that comes across as cool is hiring NPCs, but the more I play the less original I find the NPCs to be. +2 to income, +1 to spell points, etc. I believe this has been discussed before, but just want to give my point of view. I would like to see more unique talents from the NPCs, heroes, and Soveriegn. Talents that get more powerful as you level up, or talents you can increase their potency as you level up via spending points. Something els
I just want to wiegh in as well, I do feel that balancing willl help a lot, but I keep thinking about sins and how much I like that game's building process. You feel limited by resources, and every building counts. You still build an extractor on every planet, but don't have the tactical slots to allow for every planet having a shipyard, and everything else. I would like to see Elemental limit what you can build in a city by resources/ and by tactical slots. Another thing that may
I think entrance and exit points would strategically fun.
Some last thoughts of mine: Loving all the spells I am seeing, I, however, espescially like lwarmonger 's suggstions on page three. His ideas are not only very unique, but well thought out and would make me want to consider playing death magic or fire magic, which I usually never play. Here are
Sorry, I got carried away: Book of Ice: Spell Name: Ice Barge Is it Strategic or Tactical? Strategic/Summoning Arcane Knowledge required to acquire: Low Mana required to cast: Moderate Does it require any shards to be controlled? No Spell Effect:Create a Boat made of magical ice. Units aboard the ship will take slight damage while they are on it (Due to cold). Can unsummon the boat at anytime, so if an opponent finds y
I have been really busy and haven't gotten a chance to participate in the Beta since Beta 1C maybe, with that said I had to wait 30 minutes to download all the updates, and just barely loaded. The new intro is awesome, and then splites into some awesome music, I mean awesome!!! Lets see what else is in store if I am already getting out about the first 30 seconds of the game [e digicons][/e]
I have yet to see this, but I would love quests that effect the map, relations, and other such things. For example there could be a bunch pillaging orges and you could choose to fight them, if you don't then they might set up camp and start raiding random villiages. The second thing I would love to see is that quests unlock truly unique content, instead of just +150 gold. Think along the lines of unlocking the ability to research new and unique technologies, spell
I would never use/reasearch a spell that only work 50% of the time. Why not just research a spell that did what you wanted and did it 100% guarenteed?
I love the idea of a semi-inaccurate map, because that would lead to a lot of possiblities. Such as, the better your spy network, the more accurate you can see past the fog of war. You could use deciet to cause others fog of war to be messed up. Showing armies building that aren't there. You could have spells like divination, or deciet. Cool Ideas both!
I think they will most likely have something like this. I am all for having spys actually have strategic value.
Wow, I am glad I am not on the same continent as that guy. :)
All aboard...game. Board game, get it all a board game... :( ;)
I will take the blue next to the ocean. Also I read that ravenX was talking smack and says he is going to win, but that is strange how can he and I both win? Huhhh? ... :)
Ready to go!
You asked for only 5 people, and it looks like you got it; however, if you need an extra! I actually design board games, go to board game designing meetings, and will most likely attend my first Board Game conference this year, Salt Con. Anyway, if you need another let me know.
Build a road get a resource slowly, build a community get the resource quickly ?
This build seems to have more bugs than the last. It freezes, boots me out of the game randomly, then changes my systems resolution... Strange...

Everything I understand about the cards says this won't work because the cards only appear if your mouse is over the unit or object in question, so if you moved the mouse towards the card and off the unit the card would vanish... Or at least that is how it works in Sins of a Solar
Question, how does this make the game more fun? I am not shooting it down, just asking if any of us would actually like having to deal with waste, and if so what form would it take... (No poop jokes with that last comment :) )
The main idea: When designing units, be able to adjust the unit's individual stats up or down. This way you can have a unit with above average health, or above average strength without necessarily having to equip an item that augments their stats. Also with the tabs that read armor, equipment, and weapons add one more slot called skills. Have a list of skills you have researched that you can then train your units in. <br /
My only plead/ suggestion with this is please keep the women modest. I never understood games where the women wore next to nothing, for several reason. 1)It wouldn't be comfortable to fight in what some games dress women in. 2)It provides no protection from the elements. 3)It provides no armor 4)The game should sell itself, not some imodest twit on the front cover of the box. If we have women in the game, please dress them similiar to the male c
Am I the only one disappointed in how this topic has gotten seriously off topic? Anyway back to Chuck Norris... ;) No seriously though, I have seen some of the card designs for the spells and Elemental looks clean and fresh so no worries. Agree with Raven X that I paid for a turn based strategy game and not Yu-Gi-Ohh or whatever. Info cards, maybe trade spell cards, but much more into a card game and it may be tragic mistake.
