To summarize somewhat, it seems from the poll that about 1/4 of posters don't want Steam, and that the rest wants it or is fine with it. Now it's a business decision most likely, and the rest of input will be from factors not related to us, stuff like what Frogboy described in his post (payment schedules, negotiation with publisher, etc).
