Really cool idea!! Even cooler if as they gained level they gained some degree of sentience or will and could end up with personalities of their own and could revolt against owners who did things they didn't agree with!! :D

I played MoM. I still play MoM. I don't think that I have had a PC that has not had it permanently installed on since it came out. Call me a nerdy douche, but I'm at this minute installing it on my laptop as I prepare to go overseas for two weeks... :P Regardless of it's age and horribly dated graphics it entertains like no other game of it's type has since. And it gives us lots and lots of interesting choices to make that are almost always trade-offs in some way.

This is a brilliant post and I agree with every point. I think what it highlights is that this is shaping up to be a good game, but it currently lacks depth of choice. It allows us to make shallow choices, but a lot of us see that with the option of deeper choice this could be a truly great game. I know what I mean. I hope I expressed that successfully... :\

Y'know, I hadn't even noticed this til you mentioned it, but it's a really good point. Currently there is very little difference between factions. There is essentially one race with two different viewpoints. Not a lot of variety and precious little individuality. In fact the more I think about this the more of a disappointment it is!! Not a game breaker by any means, but what great fantasy game doesn't offer a variety of different options in terms of player races? I th
@ Guryon given that mana is a limited resource and cliking the 'attack' button is not, I do not see this as a fair balancing mechanic. Also units and buildings constructed are limited, and I don't want to encourage the idea of repeatedly putting useless military units in queue to be disbanded for the purpose of leveling an administrator. That said, I don't see why administrators couldn't come with a +x xp per turn w

On the topic of hero level ups, is it possible to do so via any other means than combat? I actually want to have some administrators, but sitting at home running the household doesn't do them any favours does it? They HAVE to go slaughtering to gain levels which doesn't allow any flexibility. It just seems wrong that a hero who has chosen the 'path of the governer' must still be a killer to gain levels. Maybe there could be a variety of xp streams? Perhaps base xp requ

On the other hand, I never missed a single double strike or crushing blow. Maybe these are bugged and always land.
I have found this as well, in 0.77

I happen to like research as it gives me a sense of progress as well as the ability to design better units or exploit better resources. For me it also adds to replayability as I have the option to go down a different path in another game. &n

Love these ideas. Greater variety in the generation of quests would be a fantastic way to increase the interest of the game. Also different elements like Schnorkde mentioned, sacrafice and negative effects along with positive ones. Things that make these quests more of a choice than just do-this-job, get-some-loot. Create negative affects as well, that your people need to be saved from. Create multi part quests that involve choice and consequence. I'd also like to see the cities b
Champions charge for service based on level (Guryon) (Hi Guryon - it's me, Splat from TOG ) Similar to EvilMaxWar's suggestion of champion upkeep.
Hahaha fancy meeting you here!! :P

What if Champions charged for their services, and the fee was multiplied by their level? Would that help to limit their OPness (hehe I said pness!)? As far as I have been able to tell champs have charged be initially to hire them but no ongoing fee after that (or am I totally incorrect there?). Whereas my troops cost me no coin to make but are a drain on my already tight coffers until I scrap them or they die. Seems wrong that pathetic troops are more of a drain on my r

I haven't put as many hours into the new Elemental as I would like to have (kids 'n stuff y'know?) but I'm already finding it a dramatically more engaging experience. I used to have to TRY to have one more turn in Elemental. FE has me merrily bashing the end turn button 'just one more time'. I have a few suggestions, some of which may be born from a lack of knowledge of the game, so please correct me where I am wrong. Would be nice if you could r

I have no prob with mega-champs, as long as they require an appropriate investment of time and resources. Of course end tier monsters should still have abilities that threaten them, but I loved my mega-heroes in MOM that could wade through entire armies. It wasn't easy to make tham, I had nursed them to high levels and enchanted all their artifacts myself at great cost in time and mana.

Yeah ships are a huge lacking at the moment, especially with the rate at which city borders grow. I'm pretty quickly locked out of further exploration as other civs wont let me waltz hrough their territory unless I go to war, but they happily blunder through mine all the time. Still lots for me to learn though. Does water magic have a water walking spell??

Sweet thanks for the info guys. Another example of the difficulty was that 'return the noble daughter home' quest. As much as I didn't want to be a prick, I had to sell her to the bandits cos they were just impossible for me to beat at low level.

So there is no point settling a city and producing troops early in the game? That seems very strange to me for a civ building game. Shame cos that's the way I like to play these games!

So I'm kind of enjoying the new incarnation of Elemental. I mean it's undeniably more fun than the old one but by god, I just can't get established in the early game. I've turned it down to the easiest difficulties and the random monsters just stomp all over me. I try to only fight weak ones and sometimes win against them but there are medium and strong randos about as well that just paste anything I can produce. Heroes are useless, and by the time I have teched up my
