Also - I just exited to the main menu and started a new game without exiting the program and the slow map shifting is still occurring.

I experienced this bug also. I'm playing in windowed mode on a laptop, using a mouse. This happened immediately after I went to the options screen (I had just turned on 'draw grid' in the gameplay options screen).

Katerchen - I just sent you an email. Bottom line: I'm definitely in for this. Also - I like the book recommendations in this thread. Some stuff I've never heard of or had the chance to check out. Definitely added a couple of things to my 'must read' list, so thanks to the couple of posters recommending their favorite stuff.
