@Tasunke I'm pretty sure using your method is exactly what would encourage a mega champion stack, as the loss gets smaller as you add more champions - note that this is already the case as the level requirements are not linear. But if I can kill that giant with 1 champion he should be rewarded for it, not penalized through opportunity cost. Besides you are misunderstanding the reason for this suggesion: It is not so much to make mixing champions together more viable (though that i
I will say Champions are still very powerful but they will level up much slower if you try to just create a stack up them. I had..ahem…a game last night where my “mega stack” of 5 champions got killed by a single AI champion because my stack was only level 5 and the AI champion was level 8 (and since the AI now makes great use of magic in tactical battles, it can do some horrific things to those who are unwary). On the bright si
-> as a side note, as much as I "LIKE" AOE spells doing damage*#of enemies, its just really hard to balance magic vs melee. It was easy(er) to do in FFH2 I think because the game was so abstract that you couldn't do 'real' magic, and-> then there was the pillar of fire ...
Endurance: +4 Constitution. A decent trait. Hp is a complicated calculation, but this seems a nice boost to health. I would rather it be a +2 per 3 level bonus so it doesn't fall flat at higher levels, but I could be misunderstanding the system.
You are misunderstanding the system. Endurance falls flat at early levels, not later on. A +x/xlevel bonus to endurance would be a very bad idea. If

I completely agree with heavelfall here. We've already got a rediculous forum post about how split xp is going to rape babies. I'm dissapointed it is taking them so long to release the next patch as well, but that's mainly because I'm at a loss of what to keep testing. Still, I would prefer they keep working at what they are doing then post things that will make giraffes start nuclear wars.

Cover bonuses from other units would be better. In that you can't 'fire through' groups of enemies directly in front of your target, and you recieve accuracy penalties when firing over them. Accuracy penalties for range would be good. Range restrictions are not as that destroys the fundemental purpose of ranged units. Plus assuming that units can cross the tactical map in one turn being still a thing, it would make building them pretty pointless. Of course something may ne

Roads are not owned within enemy territory, so you can still use them, which makes using caravans a very risky proposition. While I understand from a realism standpoint there is nothing stopping that approaching army from using your roads, from a game perspective, it creates much-too-fast approaching armies. Enemies shouldn't be able to use roads if they're in enemy borders. Indeed it would be nice if buildings/tech/magic could reduce enemy movement while within yo
Attacks per turn : do not limit them. Rather, impose penalties to fighting capacity after the first battle. After one battle, reduce combat abilities by 20 % (example, of course - could be adjusted to reflect the difficulty of said battle, although that would be kind of hard to do). 20 % more after a second battle. It might not sound like a lot, but add to that the potential losses from said battles, and you get a severely crippled army after

This whole issue with champions not being able to cast spells is pretty silly. Let's assume for a moment that 'mage' champions have lost the ability to cast spells of any kind. How (and why) in the hell did they train themselves to use something that no longer exists? The cataclysm happened a few hundred years ago, not last week. Secondly, assuming that they did somehow magically obtain the knowledge of spellcasting, why do they -charge- you to hire them, when without you th

What I would do is buff its abilities, but have the abilities reduce encumbrance. Master Scout might be a -20% to encumbrance, Graceful might be a -10%. That said, it would gain some nice promotions. Both tactical movement and strategic movement need to be reigned in. I disagree with starting units at 3 moves. It should take some time to explore the land - I have no problems with this. Movement should be very difficult to adjust, and many items and abilities that stack should not stack with each other or with related abilities. Scout master and compass are good examples - they both are results of the same thing and should not stack with each other. I am more of a mindset to have i

The high str bonus that verga gains cannot be replicated by choosing his faction, nor can the high intelligence bonus of procipinee be replicated by choosing her faction.

Good things to know! Looking forward to the next few patches!
For example we are cleaning up the choose sovereign screen and making the sovereigns more archetypical. Procipinee is clearly designated as a summoner, her summons start at higher level and she gets a free spell that puts that ability to use. The sovereign backstory isn’t on the screen anymore to make room for more art and a general open clean feel instead of t

@Kamamura as I said I wasn't really going for realism, but rather game balance. 'Realistically' daggers don't make your character move any quicker, but that's what they do >.> In any case, take the suggestions with grain of salt ^^ @Stupidity10 Perhaps you should look at the numbers again. The odds of hitting/missing aren't terribly high in favor of the unencumbered characters, not to mention I didn't include the likelyhood those armored characters we

Perhaps constitution should affect encumbrance instead of strength, so that is a choice of attack versus defense (str vs con) instead of both at the same time. Alternatively encumbrance should be a -static- ammount, only adjustable by traits. This makes significantly more sense and makes it far less likely that units that don't benefit from increased defense won't be wearing heavy armors (including champions). Horses shouldn't give an encumbrance bonus, or encumbranc

56 Replies 33,963 Views

@ Markon It doesn't have to be realistic. It's possible to have armor just affect dodge, but as dodge is a defense mechanic, you are basically trading defense for more defense, which isn't a fair trade off. Mind you, that construction time is also being traded, but it still works out better to have more armor. It could affect initiative instead, and I would be okay with that. I just wanted to stay away from initiative discussions right now, since the mechanic seems pretty br

Imagine the scenario where you have a high level champion focusing on strength, and another high level champion focusing on dexterity (for dodge). Even if the chance to dodge increased by 2 per level, the champion focusing on strength would have zero problems hitting the swift champion because accuracy is purely a determinant of level. This creates the odd scenario where a high dexterity champion is capable of dodging low level enemies -very well- but nothing else. Thi

Actually I just went through and doublechecked. Lady Irane is indeed the exception. She has the 'enduring' trait supposedly from her faction, but not something that can normally be acquired by building a custom soveriegn and attaching them to tarth. The other three have spent only 6 points and as such do not recieve any sort of accomodation for missing the profession. Now that I think about it.. wasn't there a +1 prestige profession? I think these three had that
