Hi. We've had large scale discussions on Steam here , here , here and somewhat here . We've also discussed cloud computing here . I highly recommend reading through those threads, they're a great read if you're in

From my point of view, there is nothing that "pops," nothing thus far that distinguishes game play from something I haven't already done or seen in other products. I know this is culled; I know this is a beta; yet we have some core game mechanics that just aren't "fun." Not to be rude, as you made quite a point about not trolling and so I don't wish to troll your post, however Brad has also made quite a point of detailing just how "un-fun" the beta is supposed to be.

I spent some time with Elemental, mainly just balance checking everything and looking of ways to improve everything. I also spent some time convinving other people to look into Elemental, which is always nice.

Excellent idea, however I think it would end up quite cluttered.
...Instead of having one screen of building icons with output icons on top, could we get header tabs for types of output?...
I would like to see this idea implemented.

Also wouldn't mind seeing banners and the like pop up more often, showing loyalty towards me, the supreme magical overlord.
This. Add this to the game and Cities will come alive.

In my opinion, the City building aspect need significantly more thought behind it.
I find if I keep following a similar path over and over in a game I start to wonder if it should just be included already into the game. I am not for dumbing down city building at all. If it isn't strategic (giving the player choices that greatly affect their game) or enhances the gameplay then it needs to be reworked... I tend to agree; I usually end up with a couple of powerful NPCs and my Sov, and then any NPCs I encounter I kill because leveling them up is simply not practical. Inns having repetable quests (kill quests, escort quests, etc.) from the numerous Inns would work well (and remove the need for a million Inns in the world) as well as the aforementioned Den idea from Fall From Heaven would work pretty well in terms of allowing NPCs to be leveled up. It be best for balance to have
..In any event, Steam ban's you, it's from your entire library and no refund, all publishers, all platforms, everything. It's not the samething as having EA ban you from an EA game. Stardock will do the same thing to you, but at least they force refund you. I've heard of steam banning people for doing a chargeback on them, a chargeback because steam wouldn't refund a double charge or a gift given that was never received.
Would you

No no, sorry, I understand that - that's not what I meant. We don't get a spell which we cast which just destroys all our enemy's remaining cities and buildings, we have to actually put some thought in to it.

My opinion is that in Elemental we have a chance of changing the Mop Up phase into something different thanks to the nature of how it's being developed. As has been mentioned already, the use of spells can help here as you'd be able to clean up quickly once you've defeated the bulk of your enemies forces. This isn't really changing the Mop Up phase, it's really just making it faster as I doubt we're going to get an 'I.W.I.N.' spell so you'd still have to do a bit of clean

I'm going to have to disagree - other games like Elemental may choose to have Cannon fodder, but in Elemental it's about being able to design the right unit for the right job. In Civ4, it's all about numbers - just pump out enough of your strongest unit and swarm your opponent. Seriously, even at the highest difficulty level, this tactic is flawless . I believe the idea is also to have sharing of other people's creations - so you can essentially just download other people's creations

It's, quite honestly, one of the coolest little additions I've seen in a Video Game in quite some time. It's not Dwarf Fortress, but it's getting there ;)

I can scroll right and up, not down and left. Sometimes, depending on what I'm clicking on, it likes to keep scrolling after I've stopped - usually in a direction I can't normally scroll, too. I love BETAs.
8.) Instead of placing shards randomly, have them follow a loose set of rules for placement. IE, fire shards tend to be near hot locations like jungles and volcanoes, water shards tend to be near the ocean or rivers, earth shards near fertile land or mountains, and air shards near grasslands or high mountains. Something like that.
I quite like this idea - however it would also restrict the game a bit. If you were on the other side of the map to the only V

I wasn't sure if this was an intended feature, however I accidently held Space Bar for a split second and it ended two turns instantly. Holding down Space causes the game to end hundreds of turns without any feedback provided to the player, although your Gold Counter goes through the roof! [e digicons]:erk:[/e] Needless to say, I think this should be changed - the behaviour should be that holding down Space doesnt end multiple turns, only one turn, with each turn requiring

I agree that it's not fair - a single, flat charge should apply that is converted into the appropriate currency when you conduct your transaction. As an Australia, I often have to pay AU$120.00 for a new release Xbox 360 title at retail, while I can buy the same game, PAL Version, from the UK in AU Dollars for significantly less - including postage. How does this compute to the people in charge when, adding in an entirely new fee, the game is still cheaper buying it internationally?<
