I can only speak for myself but while I appreciate the gesture of a free expansion I'd rather you not have to factor such a generous offer into your stategic future. ~$20 bucks is dinner for 2, a new hardback book, 1 DVD, a case of good beer, or a whole host of purchases which provide a few hours of fun but are then easily forgotten. I'll pay $20 bucks for hours, days, months, and years of playing that expansion. I'll pay for the work, just make the expan

The feeling I get is a great many people have invested a huge deal of emotional capital in this game, not because its 'Elemental', not because its 'Stardock', but because it was going to be (hoped it would be) the genre buster that MoM, Civ, WoW, Halo, Empire: Total war (or other games if you prefer) were for their fanbases, a game which would thrust this style of game into the limelight and the rest of the gamer community would finally understand why blended fantasy,

I think Froboy's reply (#45) here is important and I only found it linked through another thread. A statement like that should be an independent post and not embedded as a reply in a post. I'm not saying he's trying to hide it, just saying I think it's simple, straight forward, honest, and blunt; I appreciate and respect that, I think everybody else in the forums would appreciate knowing it's there as well.

I see that the PC gamer review is out and it's not exactly great. I can't see how this whole mess helps encourage other devs to release this type of game. More importantly, to get a new generation interested in this game genre and then demand similar games be produced. I feel as though short term this game will eventually satisfy those waiting for a game to permanetly replace MoM but the long term damage may be unworth the brief satisfaction.

I get the impression the reason why everybody's hair is on fire is that because games like this are so rare that if it doesn't do well the liklihood of something similar coming out is diminished (supposedly). However, if such a loyal and powerful consumer base exists then I don't see why another developer wouldn't come along to meet the demand, or why the probability of that happening is so low. I would think that the developer who could deliver on the promise of the perfect

The opinions expressed in these forums have been passionate to say the least but why is that? What is it about this game that has so many people worked up and agitated about it? Despite all the issues being batted around the one thing almost everybody says is : 'Once it's patched enough times it'll be awsome,.. I just know it... I can't offer any proof of that outside of that's what happened with GalCiv but it just has to happen... this game can't just fall flat
