Here’s my initial thoughts after a few games of 2B. Sorry for the wall o’ text. Spell management: The Magical Studies screen is kind of a mess right now. I’d suggest breaking it down by spellbook. When you enter, you are shown your library of tomes and underneath them, information such as how many spells are currently available and already known from that particular book. When you click on one, you get to buy spells more or less the same as b
Based on what I've seen this game needs a lot more than just 21 days (assuming people are working on weekends - which I doubt they will be doing) of additional work. There is of course the possibility that the beta testers haven't seen a lot of the content though I suppose.
That's not a possibility, that's a fact. However, even if Stardock has a world of amazing stuff we still haven't seen, Frogboy just openly stated that
There were some server issues over Saturday night-Sunday morning. Does it work now?
It does work now, but weird things have happened. I installed the Beta on a laptop and it worked there, while at the same time it still repeatedly wasn't working on my regular desktop. Then I... um... seem to have resolved the issue by physically moving my desktop computer, at which point the Beta started working. So, this was either an is

Argh, this issue just keeps haunting me. Once, again, when I start the latest build, it hangs on the Beta 2A splash screen for over a minute (if I fire up the task manager, it tells me that the program is not responding) and then eventually tells me: Failed to download data file. Please make sure you're connected to the internet, have signed into Impulse and that no firewall or anti-virus program is blocking Elemental. The Windows Firewall
The cataclysm was over a hundred years ago.
It'd probably feel less odd if those picturesque inns weren't the only thing standing in an otherwise completely desolate wasteland.

To begin with, there probably shouldn't be much - if any - reward for murdering a lone scholar in the middle of the wasteland. Certainly not a level's worth of XP, which alone makes random killing worthwhile. It would also help if these NPCs eventually started doing something instead of wandering aimlessly forever. Offer quests, travel between your cities trading, or settle down and make a terrain improvement/landmark.

So, is this inability to remarry by design, or will it eventually be changed? It really is pretty absurd that you can't have a second marriage, even if you've been widowed for a hundred years.

The graphical representation of the city walls is entirely based on the last wall-related construction in that city. If you build a hedge wall in a city after the stone walls, the stone is replaced by hedges. If you demolish either wall improvement the city borders will revert to basic fences, even though the other type of wall is still present. Don't know if this also applies to the walls' gameplay effects, or just the graphics. How to replicate: By default, a

I realize this would be no small amount of work, but large parts of the game still seem to be in flux, so I’ll just throw it out there. In the early game, it’s really strange how the post-apocalyptic world seems devoid of any human survivors, but is dotted with a startling amount of lonely inns and nobles’ estates. Of course, they’re there to provide you with quests, but I think they both feel out of place and oddly limit your interaction with people outside yo

I've been thinking along the same lines as well. The beginning doesn't feel much like a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a lot of these quests would feel more at home in a generic high fantasy setting. What's especially weird are the countless noble estates that pop up around the world, waiting for someone to be escorted there, at which point they promptly disappear in a puff of smoke. Landmarks in general shouldn't just appear and disappear based on your quests, unless they're truly unrem

In my (short, unscientific) testing, I found that the refined housing/farming/education techs did work, but only started doing so (or at least appearing to) on the turn after they were discovered. So, when I picked the refined farming breathrough, my food meter stayed the same, but once I advanced a turn, it increased a little.

There definitely ought to be more information available. Showing the entire tech tree might not be necessary, but at the very least you should be able to get detailed descriptions of the buildings/items/abilities that a tech unlocks when you pick a breakthrough. You can’t really make informed decisions right now. Let’s say for instance that the “Higher Education” breakthrough shows up for you as an option. The description tells you that it allows you to build U

I did not have Impulse open for any of today's (all-successful) attempts. Unless Impulse Now counts, in which case I always did, from the beginning of the issue. When I was having problems, it was sometimes open, sometimes not, to no noticeable effect. I just tried opening it, running the game, then closing it and running the game again. Seems to make no difference.

I'll just note that the situation now seems resolved, although I'm not sure how exactly it happened. After making the original post, I remembered that I had a backup of BETA 0.264, which used to not have this problem. However, after restoring it, I found that 0.264 now had the exact same problem. So I updated back to 0.291 and gave up for a bit. Today, I decided to give it one last shot. I completely disabled both the Windows firewall and my anti-virus and the game started wit

Hi, ever since the 0.291 update, I can't reliably start up Elemental. The game hangs at the pre-into splash screen for literally several minutes and then displays the following error message: Failed to download data file. Please make sure you're connected to the internet, have signed into Impulse and that no firewall or anti-virus program is blocking Elemental. My only option is to click okay and exit the program. 0.290 didn't have this issue. Shutting down my anti-vi
