First my thoughts on the current system. I love it and I hate it. I love it because it allows us to have cities with unique layouts and because when you plan your city and build it, it gives you a sense of attachment to it. You do not own a spot on the map that gives you some gold and allows you to stamp soldiers. You own a city. For me it's not really tedious to place tiles per se. What bugs me is that the current system tries its best not to allow you to build a city in the way you want.</p

Aractain, I am not talking about value. Of course any coin would have some value because of the precious metals in it. I am talking about minting coins. Allowing somebody else to mint your coins is a very big no-no. They could basically decrease the ammount of gold in the coin, make a profit out of it and totally waste your e

I second the florens. Not that it would happen. Rigma and gildars both sound wrong to me. Minting your own coins would be wickedly cool, though I doubt developers will have time to implement it in any meaningful way. But if we talk about fiction in the world of elemental, different civilizations should definitely have different coins. It would be really strange if all the warring countries minted exactly the same type of coins. At the very least each civ should store the name
The best answer for balance is just to deal with the cost of them. I don't really have any ideas for new traits, but balance is just a matter of testing and adjusting pricepoints.
Well by being hard to balance I mean that it be would hard to put a price on. How much points should cost the ability to create invisible flying warships? What about the ability to incenerate everything in sight once a day? Is it a weaker on

I agree that static bonuses are way to generic. They are necessary to create different ways to play yes, but I think they should be made as scales not as talens. Then you can add points to increase your gold/food/mana/whatever production or decrease them. Talents should add something unique to the game. Something that defines your sovereign. There are talents like that now, but they are muddled by all the numeric bonus talents. By making numeric bonuses as scales and adding unique tal

Is it just me or most of the Empires have a much cooler looking armor? [e digicons][/e] Also, I don't know if this was discussed already, but if you are not undead shouldn't living in the lands of death magic make it disadvantageous for everybody? You know like awefull weather, failing crops, bad birth rates, low morale. Even if you are good at using it death magic it is still death magic. Not good for your health. Is there an explanation for why Empires lik

I do not like the current damage types since from the point of world building they look very ugly. We have some pretty basic forces of nature and everything else will have to be lumped into "mystical". So yay for dragons, fire elementals, fire demons, savage fallen barbarians with fire arrows and maybe some storms and blizzards. Those darkness-controlling vampires, poison-wielding assassins and mind-destroying eldritch abominations? Oh, they are all myyystical. Or not in the setting.
This is not how it is going to work. Where did you get that information? Well, this is why I proposed this as an option. For those who think the probability of such an event is rather low (or would rather not think about it at all [e digicons];)[/e] ) I pre-ordered through Impulse and all I received was an order number, so I think everything is fine. Unless it should have appeared in the "My Games" section right away.
I'd like to preorder, but... The preorder page says I won't be charged until the product is available. Does that mean when it ships? My card expires in November, which is almost certainly before the game ships. Hopefully I can get some kind of answer before the beta ships, I'd hate to miss the deadline :/
Well, if you are really desperate, maybe you can preorder now, get access to the beta and then cancel th
