I guess it depends a lot on one's definition of morality, which is where these discussions often derail. But as an example, monkeys will show empathy and compassion to each other, even if they weren't raised in part of the "monkey community" (couldn't resist using that phrase). They're just naturally inclined that way, as are we. They're also naturally inclined to band together and then beat the **** out
Just to veer somewhat back 'on-topic'...... Makes one wonder about any real need for future 'privacy legislation' when at some point the 'drones' mentioned will be pre-programmed with default 'morals/ethics' code and with the ability to learn (build on that) will be able to make 'judgment calls' regarding privacy etc. on a case-by-case basis witho
There's plenty of scientific evidence to the contrary.
Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing a show that attributes empathy as an innate trait that separates us from the apes etc. I guess I can't feel too bad about using anecdotes after all. :D That's also the word I should have used in my contradictory post above: empathy doesn't need to be taug
You weren't 'born with it'. The only thing you're born with is 'animal instinct'. Common sense, human nature, morality, and all the other equivalents are LEARNED either by association, education, experience or trial-and-error. A willingness to be a part of [your] society determines how closely you follow its rules/ideals/mores. <br
Necro a sticky? I'm not well versed on PC, semantics, or etiquette, but is that even possible? :D Usually I get yelled at for creating a new thread- and then sometimes for a necro when something is still relevant, so I can't win it seems.
The last thing any company should be doing is having representatives take positions on issues that could make its consumers angry, assuming said issues don't directly impact its business. I remember a while back Frogboy (I think) said Stardock would stop using either Fedex or UPS because they pulled advertisements from Glen Beck's political shows, supposedly in support of free speech or s
I think there's probably some merit to that study, though I would say it's not exclusive to video games at all. Something about society in general that cannot accept losing or failing at anything. It's a completely foreign concept to me, and seems unhealthy. People always need a scapegoat, something or someone to place blame, in everything, not just gaming. I always crave a good challenge, and in modern video games it's often hard to come by. With Civ V, I can only pla
There are just too many things missing from AoW3 that I enjoyed in FE:LH, such as the whole empire building component.
Take a look at Endless Legends. Personally, I'm burned out on the whole empire building thing... way too many hours of civ I guess. Watching some pre alpha videos of EL reminded me just how much. Maybe if it's done differently, but I admit it is a bit refreshing to have a game w

Whew! Glad I didn't try to get into the gaming industry, I did take some programming courses to try and follow in my father's footsteps, but was twice as good at math & science than language and communication on SAT's lol. (Was never very in touch with my feelings or able to express myself well). I think Einstein had a similar problem and was considered quite crass- not that I would compare myself to him or anything! That probably came off wrong as well...
Ah it does work (didn't show up in preview post). Anyway, I'll jam with you, although I'm no Eric Clapton. :D
nvm not working :D
Surprised that I get to be "first", but let me just say, that is really awesome. :)
About to celebrate my 5th year anniversary of being free from the "joys" of car ownership. :D All that wasted time and money when I could be playing on the computer instead... ;)
It is very much appreciated [by] me! Put another way, I had closed out my bnet account with the D3 fiasco (compare with how Elemental was handled lol) but am very excited to support Stardock in the future and am looking forward to GalCiv 3 and also the collaboration of Mohawk. You've definitely earned a fan here, and I've really been enjoying FE/LH. I have no idea what the above drama is about, but I think many times criticism is thrown out without any putting things into co
In case this helps bug hunting, apparently the town militia decided to confiscate my pet bear for recruitment. :D (Town has not been attacked, so not sure if it shows up in tactical battle)
Same here. Continued on from the game that kept crashing, and so far so good! Thanks guys
Any chance in getting that 1.5 beta early? :D I just wanna play... crashes have me hitting a brick wall. :(
It's code name is Mars and it's an RTS.
Buzzkill! Ah well, probably still be interested to see what comes out of this considering the big names involved. TBS always seems to be superior in the "strategy" department while real time has to limit the amount of depth to make it playable and action-y. Maybe this time it will be different? :D
I had a different issue with Grip of Winter (not sure if WAD). I captured an enemy city, which was hit with the spell and then the enemy recaptured it. Grip of Winter was still in effect though! I would have had to retake the city again and disenchant it to get rid of it, which was like a snowball effect since I couldn't produce more troops and was pretty much game over at that point lol. It appears to be that anything queue'd up still continues production
I suffered through life with the same problems as the OP, diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia. Could never keep a reasonable sleep schedule, and eventually "sleep debt" catches up to you and go through periods of extremely long sleep patterns. Slept through final exams in the semester I went to college, and was constantly in trouble in the military over sleep issues and arriving late etc. This was all before the science was founded in around 2000. Had sleep studies done (paid for by m
Strategy gamers have had it pretty good lately, but this is just more icing on the cake! :) Best of luck, looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!
