I did have problem right after purchasing the laptop and it would shut down unexpectedly at least once a week. The problem increased during the summer and I figured out it was an overheating problem. I reset the chip using Arctic Silver instead of the generic cooling gel it came with, and bought one of those external fan bases. That resolved the overheating problem and ended the shut downs, but I wonder if the constant overheating didn't do some permanent damage to the CPU where it

Thanks everyone for your help, my HD score was 4.2 and remained 4.2 but the processor dropped from 4.6 to 3.6 and I just don't understand how a processor could drop like that. I flashed the bios, downloaded a driver app from AMD and its returning all my drivers as up to date on every peripheral in my machine. [e digicons]>:([/e] My primary concern is I've been waiting 2 years for Elemental and the beta version is clocking my CPU between 70 and 100% and regularly crashing. I

I have and aside from the individual application crashes (civ 4, NWN 2, turbo tax, MS money) there's been nothing in the event viewer. I initially thought it might be a virus or spyware as the machine never logs into my network automatically anymore (got verizon fios right before loading Win7) but I've run malware bytes, Norton and one other program I don't remember off the top of my head and they all came back with no results.

I'm running a laptop with an AMD turion ML-40 and an Nvidia 7500GS go 512MB, 2 MB ram and dual hard drives. I recently upgraded from Vista to Win 7 and noticed applications and games that were fairly stable were not running as smoothly as they previously had. I was playing around with different hardware settings when I noticed something I consider very strange. I checked out the windows experience index and under vista it was 4.2. The lowest score was for the hard drive at 4.2. The pr

I'm going to add to this thread and maybe post this under computing as well. Shortly before downloading the Elemental Beta 3B I upgraded my laptop from Vista to Win 7. Its running an AMD turion ML-40 and an Nvidia 7500GS go 512MB. When I'm running elemental 0.98 the CPU is normally clocking between 70 and 100%. It hangs regularly and occassionnally crashes. I was playing around with different hardware settings when I noticed something I consider very strange. I checked out the windows

All good, throw in some instrumentals from Clan of Xymox or David Sylvian and you could have a real interesting soundtrack for Elemental

a little playing around with settings and I could get it to work. here's what I had to do 1-turn off the music 2-turn off full screen 3-lower resolution to anything but the highest 4- only use pregenerated sovereigns....not sure what this would have to do with performance but I couldn't use any sovereigns I created, if I did the game hung during world building That worked for me, hope everyone found it helpful.

It doesn't suprise me that it could be a driver issue. I'm running an NVIDIA 7900go GS in an Alienware Aurora system. The system came with Vista but I upgraded to Win 7 recently and there are no drivers from Nvidia for this card on Win7. I had to go through a number of their different Vista drivers and do some tweaking to get NWN2 and CIV4 to run successfully but I finally got both of those stable. Now elemental is here and I forgot everything I'd learned about tweaking the 3d card&nb

here is the link but I think this is not the same zip I created yesterday. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ver 3c but that didn't seem to work and I think I lost the zip in the process, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9265314/Elemental0_90-2010-07-18T22-12-50-790.zip

I patched the beta version to 3C tonight and can get through the opening sequence and build a sovereign, but as the world is being built the game hangs and eventually stops responding. I have the debug.err but haven't been able to post it anywhere successfully.

I just installed Elemental and made my first attempt at running the game. When I am at the screen to choose my sovereign the box on the right that I assume shows the avatar has yellow lines but no discernible image. I can click through and begin the game but the map experiences the same issue where no graphics are visible but I can occassionnally see some yellow pixelation. I'm running this on an AMD Turion ML 40 with a Nvidia GEforce GO 7900 GS video card Windows 7</p
