Yeah that was why they went down - they were pretty blatant about the piracy side of things. It was the "intent". A bit like saying you didn't rob the bank when you held the door open for the robbers, showed them where the vault was, and helped them carry the money out, then advised them how to best invest it. They didn't actually make much money off it - they had ads, so the people advertising on it in theory are the ones who made money. Will they be prosecuted?&nbs

Just spent an evening messing round over on www.kongregate.com Its a load of browser games that amused me. I usually end up when searching for elemental ending up on http://www.novelconcepts.co.uk/FlashElementTD/ a flash tower game which I'm very very addicted to. No good at - but utterly addicted =P Any one know any thing about writting these sort of games?

Agree with JuleTron, I think the bird of prey is great. Kinda a fan of some of the B5 ships - human and Narn. Thing is the human one is that style we've seen in a few formats in different places. My favourite ship graphic ever is from a game is the Stiletto from Nexus the Jupiter Incident. The starting s

/facepalm So why we getting this if it isn't market fores? Umm it is. I've built networks for ISP's and carriers, and they way the offer home user service is by using contended bandwitdh. It's generally 20 to 1. So an ISP sells a home user a contended service, at T1 speeds, they're selling that T1 to 20 people. So what does that mean for you as a gamer? You contending with little Johny downloading every bit of internet pr0n 24/7 via bittorrent dow

Big fleets it matters as Vic pointed out - a fleet commander needs some standardisation to help reduce his work load. When you're commanding it's a little more than picking primary and secondary targets. Personally I get bored in those situations - the FC is playing an rts and I'm a peon waiting for orders. Small fleets utterly different. 10 guys/gals or less hunting fleet I think is the most fun you can have legally without a member of the opposite gender

I always thought PC gaming was slated as dying because of sales on PC compared to console. One theory is that us ebil PC gamers are just illegally copying every other game we play. Hence the money made is 10X higher on a console, but something like twice as many people play it on the PC compared to a console. I know that's the line they trot out with every fps that's released on both. I have to say every example I've seen quoted was an utterly appauling ports from
BTW, the OP noted that he is tired of travel times from MMOs. As a veteran of a dozen or so MMOs, starting with original EQ ten(!) years ago, I'm wondering which MMOs he's played.
EQ old skool, AO - rk2?, Eve-online, EQ2 - US, WoW - EU, WAR - US. MMOG's I can deal with travel time. I know people generally quote pre-planes EQ as the long travel times, but I actually thought Eve pre-warp to 0 was the

Have kinda mixed feelings over AvP2, had gotten a little into the modding side of NOLF, and it was the same engine, so I brought it purely because of that, rather than the fact I like the AvP thang. (which I do enjoy) It introduced a few more mod'able body parts. What killed it for me was smartguns in online play. They had a built in autoaim, you know, what other fps consider a hack. The bit I loved though was single player campaign, such atmosphere. Just
For me, it was No One Lives Forever & Hitman: Codename 47. I bought the 2 games on the same day (I was feeling gamy that day). My first thought was that No One Lives Forever was gonna be just another FPS, and Hitman: Codename 47 was gonna be awesome. Let me tell you, was I wrong or what, No One Lives Forever turned out to be THE BEST FPS EVER and Hitman was one of the worst game I have ever played! After a few months, I got ri

Eve always has generated absolutely awesome community videos. I sometimes suspect that it's due to the fact that it has no real quests as it is a sandbox game. It was Leaf... err sommat of NSN when they were part of PA in '04 was pulling out the most incredible videos, each one took the boundries of production to a whole new level. It was Bob/evolution, although heavy in propaganda, also moved the boundries on for user generated videos in MMOG's. I've played other MMOG

I know GalCiv's history... but can some whisper a space 4x game that is kinda spelt the same way a cow makes noise... Number 1 please! I've never got my sticky mitts on the first. I got to play it once but want more! Most gamers would be fine with the old classics coming out again. Issue, is the emulator to play them. Sure I'm fine (an I guess most of you are) about firing up an emulator and running those games. Some (SMAC) I can run in a combatabilty mode.&nbs

Cheers for the replies guys. Finally got through reading a lot of reviews, and definately given me some idea's. I've never really got on with the Elder Scrolls - I'm too much of an MMOG player - I keep wanting to put up a looking for group tag. Sure they're great but that scope makes me want to play them with friends. Gothic kinda looks the same - please correct me if I'm wrong. Haven't played any of the fallout series (I hang my head in shame) I'll definatel

Sh0dan as I said earlier - ships and set up in eve is PvP, but hell I'm always game =) Caldari and Ammar ships are the perfect tankers in their field. ie shield/amour. When you compare like for like, they'll out tank the Minmatar/Galnete ships. They're also designed around missiles/rails and lasers. Pulse are the short range ones, but you can't compare those to auto's/blasters. Slot wise, if you start adding ew on either you loose tank. eg shield hardener

Been poking around at the elemental forums and reading some of the stuff there and it's kinda made me want to play a fantasy game. Looking for recommendations. I mainly play MMOG's and RTSs alongside 4x games. But love a good RPG when I can get my hands on them. Thing is I become rapidly bored with travel times and 1001 subquests. I play MMOG's - I wanna break from that =P. Couldn't even deal with running round a city in KotOR last time I fired it up.

I'm an old skool eve player from way way back in the day. The orginal Curse Alliance from when MoO was in it... Pre-castor (patch) Caldari blackbirds were king, then it was Minmatar rifters post castor. Last time I got sucked in - Nov 2008, it appeared to be Ammar Zealots - the HAC with pulse and scortch that were the PvP tool of choice alongside Minmatar recon's and heavy interdictors. PvE it's still the Caldari Raven and the newcommer in my mind - the Drake. You can argu

To be honest its probably more that the Sims series is considered a demographic that don't use pirated software. I doubt you'd see EA doing this for other titles irrespective of what happens with Sims 3. They'll see it as chalk and cheese with other titles.

Leadership = biggest issue is that why put points in it? I'm rather have a pimped death dealing spell, and poke my forces generally in the right direction than leave it up to the AI, however good it is. When the AI is walk into walls stupid I'm gonna do it. If my gameplay 'generalism' of playing equates to 2 points out of a max of 5 leadership, I'm wasting 2 points to make my in game general as good as me. Thinking of the limited tree
