I once spamed an enamy fleet with "chuck" missles. My computer crashed trying to do the damage count.
So you would not even put gauss platforms around your planet to prevent a few pirates or something from bombarding your planet from the other side?
what I do is mass all my structures in to one solid defense near the planet with a star base in the center, and face my defenceve "array" toward the most likely point of entry to the grav well then use mines to cover areas not cover
i remember a movie... cant remember the name... but it had Sam Neil in it (the Aussie guy from Jurassic Park etc) anyway, its a Sci-fi movie about a new kind of FTL drive that rather than just going fast, created a wormhole (everyone knows about wormholes) anyway, the first prototype went through and everyone on board died, then the rescue ship, with Sam Neil, found the prototype, looked at the sensor re

Or Tec, could be like the voyager thing in the first star trek movie
My computer crashed cause I forgot to capitalize Chucks name in one of my jokes.
Sounds alot like the tecno faction in Masters of Orion. really cool idea though. The audio voice sound could be modem sounds or other classic mechine sounds. (Microsoft Sam? lol)
Chuck's beard has its own grav well, it holds 8 star bases. Chuck Norris didnt buy Sins, he looked at it on the shelf and won. Chuck Norris eats a dozen Eggs every morning. Chuck Norris didnt do the tutorals. When chuck enters a wormhole, he goes where he wants. Chuck's computer is better than yours. Bowflex is the only tec on Chuck's reserch tree.
Quoting TheRezonator, reply 20 However, these two forms of shielding dont counter energy weapons (barring plasma) as of the moment, i do not believe it is possible to counter a laser beam, other than by A) ferro ceramic plating and the like or simply being out of range so that the beam disperses before it reaches you. How about a mirror?
a mirror would not
When you steal a ship from aother faction, do you get that faction upgrades? if so, i would also try to get a hand full (like 6-8) of the TEC robotic cruisers, as they are a great multi use ship, both with good repair ablility and an robot attack ablility, (alot like the TEC scout's emplaced exploseves ability)
really it comes down to mico manigment, but it really would be nice to have a tweek done to the AI on how it uses each ability with diffrent situations.
I have seen AI allying together as well, I usaly group a set of starbases together in the star systems. wile there, i have seen two AI fleets sitting right next to each other, with out attacking each other. This usaly means that they have at least a cease fire. (lots of AI trade ships in other AI factions systems too)
I have noticed that as well, somthing that came with a patch or entrenchment: when a fleet is static, waiting for orders, and auto attack is set to all, when somthing jumps in system, the lead ship of that fleet auto attacks but the rest of the fleet just trys to keep up with the lead, only attacking as the enemy comes into range, but not manuivering to attack, they just keep trying to reform with the lead ship. This happens till I manualy tell the fleet to attack.
probaly wouldnt be more than just a few tweeks in the AI to set up a target cordination for ablilitys (its also anoying to see my repair ships waisting antimatter on repairing ships with almost no damage, wile others are about to be distoryed)
na just a buch of us players nit-picking the balance of a already very well balanced game is all. lol
hmmm posted my reply twice...
Agreed. Mostly i was hoping that a dev would see the post and think "wow, that is a cool idea..." then down the line sometime in a new expantion or update, we would see somthing like it, (like a advanced "quick start")
well with the tec, i build star bases as fast as i can and as often as i can, and i build trade post on 90% of them, they pay for themselfs very quickly, with in 45 mins to an hour in game, my credit income is usaly well over 100 per sec. I played a game just to see how high i could get my income, my record (before i had to upgrade my fleet) was 412 per sec. i always play agenst unfair AI. its too easy.
now i have computer envy, and need to upgrade....
I built a map in the editer and my home world ended up having a moon. the grave wells of an astorid and my home world tuched. it still needed a jump to get there, but only the time it took to charge up the jump drive. It was kinda cool accualy.
The biggest problem i see with sins mutiplayer is that its not a just a 5 - 15 min match, its hours, and take cordination to set up. Its not really a problem per se, but it is the reason alot of people leave the game half way. Its not like you can just sit down, play a quick game then head of to wherever, like you can with halo. To play sins from start to finnish takes time, (and with all the updates lately, saved multiplayer games are almost mute) and needs commit
who knows, theres lots of bugs on any forum site, so maybe thats what it is... anyways, back on topic
lol, yeah, each race has its advantages and disvantages. Tec has more armor and out right fire power, but very little shilding. Vasari have an increadable amount of manuverabilty, impresseive shilding and (to me) better unit upgrade abilitys than the other races. and lets not forget RA. The Advent have good shilding, fire power compaireable to tec and some really really great Cap Abilitys but their ships are ussaly frailer than the other races.
plus you gotta look at the fact they have a MOVEING star base, I always thought that was kinda unfair. Mostly caus if you place it in a wrong position, (i.e. some place where your enemy just blows though and wont even engage it) you can just move it, instead of scuttling it and building a new one like the other races have to.
